Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee
I try to allow for all kinds of tastes, but the call to tear this building down because of its appearance, is outrageous. No degree of difference from prior generations who destroyed 95% of our architectural treasure....because they were 'out of fashion' or 'too expensive to renovate'. The library/s...

Re: Historic Old Northeast
Update: October 10, 2018. There doesn't appear to be any visible progress since the July post. Fang, it's a natural pause between phases of construction, compounded by rain delays. In the mean time, they have been busy with the renovation of 90 historic apartment units on Maple Blvd. A really impor...

+1. I still don't go to AMC theaters because of that move and them playing the border game for tax breaks. I understand how great of a deal that was for them financially, but there is no rule that says companies that make good self-interested moves have to be admired or appreciated. There in a nuts...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
That would be disappointing. They have great food. Perhaps they'd just like to be in a less funky space? The HVAC in there seems to be all over the place. I love the food too, but the service has been equal to the heating and cooling in dependability. They have never seemed to figure out a system a...

Re: Dog friendly patios and places
Bar K opened their permanent location down by Berkeley Park. I'm guessing that's been mentioned somewhere around here. If you haven't been down to the Riverfront to check out Bar K, it's well worth visiting. This has to be among the most successful launches of a bar and grill operation of any kind.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
I managed to slip in for a quick tour of Parlor.
The finishes are easily twice as nice as any food hall I have seen, or anticipated.
The menu's look very appealing.

I don't get the negative vibes.
It's going to be different and that does not equal bad.
Kind of feel like I'm reading a Yelp review of any bbq place in town.

Hadn't heard about this, Outpost Social Club, 1000 W. 25th St. By October Looks to be same address as La Esquina? I don't know La Esquina, but I was thinking this is the old Speak Deli space in that weird spot up on 25th. La Esquina was the Charlotte Street arts facility in the east end of the buil...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Just for the record, the 'Westside' is quite adamant that Broadway to I-35 is part of the Westside. It's a multi-generational point of contention and frankly a point of honor. I would not even hint at a dispute, as the resulting acrimony would be ponderous. The Westside had near zero political power...
