Re: Rail to KCI - 2023
Culturally and politically, MSP is a highly progressive metro. People are more money conscious and and environmentally friendly than the average American. I'd also like to point out they have many major companies headquartered on or near the light rail line, including U.S. Bank, Target, Ameriprise, ...

https://www.kctv5.com/2024/02/29/two-more-stores-say-goodbye-plaza-with-no-update-new-owners/ Curious why Hallmark is closing. On the bright side, with many of the recent closures, it seems to be an issue with the retailer itself vs. an issue with the Plaza (e.g., Soft Surroundings and Forever 21 we...

I couldn't agree more. Zara would be a great get as those stores command massive square footage.Midtownkid wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 12:24 pmNo loss. That's a prime space. Hopefully they will get a less common retailer on there.msmith011 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 11:47 am Forever 21 is closing per Joyce Smith: https://x.com/JoyceKC/status/1762262054465913017?s=20

A totally unrelated NY Times article about Swift and Kelce mentioned that Mayor Q was recently in France... sorry if I missed the boat, but does anyone know why he was there? Wishful thinking but I hope he met with Air France.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
The last thing the Plaza needs is another store you can find out in the suburbs, like REI. Patagonia would be a far better choice for an outdoor/recreational retailer as it's a progressive brand that would resonate well with urban dwellers, and its stores aren't massive. From what I hear, I'm guessi...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Swarovski submitted plans for a store at 230 Nichols Rd next to Tivol. Himiway is off the Plaza's website. Assuming it is closed?
Swarovski had a store where Sunglass Hut is today. A location next to Tivol makes sense.

Any ideas on when the Plaza acquisition by HP Village Partners will be wrapped up? I am curious as to what their first moves will be? I don't hold out much hope for a pedestrianized mall anytime soon but I do hope they can get the gaping hole where Nordstrom's was to be located occupied in a good w...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Awesome news. Even though the retailer mix at Highland Park Village is above and beyond what the Plaza will ever be, the fact is, they know how to run a historic, open air center with local and national/global offerings that are tailored to the community--and they do it exceptionally well. And, ther...

Moosejaw on W. 47th is closing after 10+ years: https://www.kansascity.com/news/busines ... 90269.html
It looks like most Moosejaw stores nationwide are closing as the company was purchased by Dick's Sporting Goods, not anything to do with the Plaza.

Mexico City or Honolulu would be awesome. I wonder if the Twitter user was hinting at the return of Icelandair, though. Some time ago I recall seeing a Business Journal article that cited Honolulu as being the number 1 most traveled to US city from KC that isn't served by a nonstop flight (correct m...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
The priority is business travelers who will pay upwards of $5-7k for Delta One, British Airways First Class, etc. And these people don't want to connect in a random European city to get to a major business hub like London, etc. If we're ultimately unsuccessful in scoring a major route like Delta to ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
It seems to me that current ownership is clinging to the old-school shopping mall mentality that you have to have a department store anchor. It's obviously time to give it up and go retail with apartments above. I'd imagine they're just scared they won't be able to fill more retail spaces considerin...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
It’s announced Delta is dropping the route. Delta operated 767, 4-7 times weekly. Air France will be 3x weekly to start I wonder why the switch. I do know AF and Delta are partners. This means Cincinnati will be the only non-Delta hub with a nonstop CDG route, unless additional routes are announced...
