Re: OFFICIAL: Zona Rosa (tenants & phase II)

It also doesn’t help that the city completely undermined this type of development by approving traditional suburban retail just across the highway and single family homes right next door. You do realize that the "single family homes" were there decades before Zona Rosa was built? But yes, the "shoe...

Re: The Glade - 87th & I435

This thing is a ridiculous island in the middle of a near-wasteland of old mining areas and warehouses. A mile away or so are some of the most shoddy apartments in the city (off Bannister near 71). But kudos for thinking Bold I guess.

Oak park mall is going to have a really tough time once Nordstrom also moves out. Not sure what they’re going to do going forward.
Already a rumor that the Plaza Nordstrom won't go forward. Doesn't necessarily mean they would keep the mall location though.

So many exterior textures, but sign me up for the density.
Hell of an improvement over what’s there now.

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

I have a strong suspicion that the current management is not that keen on the whole project anymore. It will remain an island far into the future, and probably never be built out. But this is just a reflection of the neglect that south KC has seen for decades. It seems stuck in the early 1980s (or e...

The one in Olathe was packed for weeks when it first opened. The one on Metcalf? Not so much.

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

Reminds me of the total lack of development along State Avenue east of 435 in Kansas City, Kansas. After nearly 20 years there is no spin-off development from Village West. But hopefully that will start to change with the Menard's opening soon.

Re: Downtown Overland Park

I really think these kind of projects that are going to kill any kind of growth in urban KC if they keep building apartments like this in the burbs. I think Young Professionals will choose these types of locations in OP/Lenexa/North KC and bypass the urban core completely especially if rents are ab...

That is an outdated brochure as it shows the Cosmosphere as still part of the plan (although it isn't labeled). They have built a small retail strip center out there lately though.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Construction begins on Nordstrom with the fencing off of the construction area and part of the parking garage. Should be a cluster during Plaza Art Fair, with the only entrances on 47th and the side street (Summit?). https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article230167...

A Top Golf employee told me that they are interested in the site for more parking. It’s very possible a QT and extra Top Golf parking could fill the space. Another QT employee said it was likely they are going to build a store there.

...or keep the Roe store and have two. I am sure they can keep both of them busy. Doubtful. When they built the new QT on SM Pkwy in Shawnee, they didn't say anything about closing the one at Neiman and 67th, but they ended up closing it a month after the new one opened. I believe they actually sai...

No, an employee told me several years ago (after they added the QT Kitchen), that was as big as they could go. There is a creek/small ravine behind the building, as well as apartment building.

A replacement for Roe and 435, I have no doubt. That store is too small for the business it gets.

Does anyone know what's going on at the NE corner of 79th & Metcalf? They tore up the surface lot recently and have been moving quite a bit of dirt the past few days.
I heard it is yet another apartment building. The Winstead’s site is also slated to be one.

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway

Yep, the official line was that Cinergy wanted their building done ASAP, and all the trailers and stuff were sitting on the Cinergy pad. So, out it all went. Now I assume they are trying to mobilize the contractors back to the site since it is graded and ready to go. I get the impression the contra...

Grading for the Cinergy pad was completed over a week ago. Fences were adjusted, grass was mowed, and not much else since then.
And if I am not mistaken, the construction trailers have all been removed.
