Re: Major road improvements on I-35/291 corridor

Yes, very true. As has been pointed out before, Liberty resisted development for years until the area west of I-35 started being built up. Growing pains that Liberty did not ask for.

I can't see Liberty becoming much bigger and more built out into the county without major growing pains and problems. We shall see...

Re: Major road improvements on I-35/291 corridor

To zhloban: If you go from kansas south towards Liberty HS on Blue Jay Dr, there are still signs posted that say: NO TRESPASSING- PROPERTY OF CLAYVIEW CC- how many years after it's been torn down? On Glenaire- I thought that the builders of the subdivisions put up the roadblocks- To keep the wonderf...

Re: Birmingham Road in Liberty

I can attest to these rumors, I have heard in school that the KKK hangs out there. I don't believe this in the slightest, but the rumors about the area are rampant. The bit about the shooting and dumping makes sense, what business do people have going there, besides passing through? And why is seven...

Re: Liberty Triangle

+1 On PV road from Flyingember. It is a country road, for all intents and purposes. People complain about 152, but the congestion seems to get to a certain moderate point and hold constant, except when the high school is letting out. This in contrast to I-35 and 291, where the congestion gets so bad...

Re: Major road improvements on I-35/291 corridor

Zlohban,
I had always thought that the roadblocks in Glenaire were the work of Glenaire, for some reason. Also, when did you talk to the councilman about that? It seems like the city fairly botched their growth philosophy in recent years.

Re: Birmingham Road in Liberty

Sounds like you did get close to Birmingham, it's just after the FedEx ground dist. center and musicians friend off of 210 coming from the east. I've seen the other end, it's also gated. As for what you said about Liberty way back when, I'd heard that LHS was all out there on its own on Kansas, but ...

Re: Major road improvements on I-35/291 corridor

And I agree with Fyingember on there being a way to 291 from south liberty parkway, via holt drive to birmingham road to Ruth Ewing, but it sends people through a residential neighborhood and is rarely quicker for me.

Re: Major road improvements on I-35/291 corridor

I think the intersection of 291 and Glenn Hendren Drive should be changed so it's a 'right for Glenn Hendren, Nashua Road, hospital, left for I-35, 291 to 435 and KCI' situation. Now, it really doesn't support the traffic that goes from 291 onto glenn hendren.

Birmingham Road in Liberty

If anyone is on here that has lived in liberty a long time, you can probably help me on this. I have seen on older maps that both birmingham and hughes road used to be paved from Liberty to Birmingham. My question is, why were these roads permantly closed and left to deteriorate?
Thanks, Nick
