Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

The Plaza will be fine, new retailers will move in to replace any that close.

It's changed before, it used to be full of gas stations, and it will change again.

Re: COVID19

For colleges, here's the official answer https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2020/modifying-2020-operations-for-counting-college-students.html In general, students in colleges and universities temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 virus will still be counted as part of this process. Even...

They're hoarding tests for first responders and professional athletes.

This thing will be over before there are enough tests for us proles.
The proverbial "they"

There's thousands of theys and 99%+ of them aren't doing this.

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

That green wall is tacky. Not good looking at all, especially if it’s fake greenery. Looking at renderings of this place, it’s really cheesy and tacky with the finishes. It’s good infill and a decent project but the finishes are all over the place. Really crazy and gives me a headache just looking ...

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

It's a great place.

The former American Royal complex is a convention center. It's Kemper, Hale Arena + Governors Building

There's also a large parking area for bringing in equipment and has multiple loading docks.

Re: Zipcar

Zipcar was down to two cars before COVID-19. I would not expect them to survive in most markets (especially KC). Enterprise closed down their car share at UMKC (as they did nationwide). The enterprise service is pretty nice to use. I think the streetcar expansion will take away alot of its customer...

Re: COVID19

I don't know, nobody is really taking this that seriously. If anything it could increase people living in urban areas because I feel like rents on apartments and commercial really estate are going to drop. From a jobs standpoint the harder hit areas are the more suburban Sunbelt cities. Boston, nyc...

It will increase use over the 2-4 years after things get back to normal and we're past holds and income incentives. Once people can get out and do them, job losses will lead to a dramatic increase in car repos among your bottom 30-40% of incomes. The work from home demographic will be above this inc...

Re: COVID19

Again, no it doesn't. It's not just shopping. A huge number of people are still working and relatively few people work in the same zip code as they live. Someone who lives near a cluster in WyCo could work in Olathe. Their coworker could live in Lee's Summit. So one person just spread into two zip c...

The network effect and spread rate makes that data irrelevant at this point. Once they've found a case in the urban county it's already at the level that anyone within the county needs to be aware Take your idea and someone who is sick lives in Brookside. They went to the grocery store off 63rd a fe...

I'd love for us to use more garages in that manner. Increase capacity.
It was horribly stupid in implementation.

Anything will be better than the current garage. Even a new garage. I parked in it for almost seven years. They had to give everyone valet parking because there wasn't enough space on either level for anything except parking cars three deep end to end. The workers shuffled cars around all day. They ...

Have you read the book 2140?

It's not a perfect connection, and the story has a crazy deus ex machina in it, but the premise is that at some point we need to stop bailing out companies for bad economic decisions

Unfortunately, even in its recent state, FS was still one of the top craft beer bars in the metro. They have good reviews on sites but no one ever mentions them as a place to get beer. Out of all these lists, they made 16th place in only one of them. https://www.visitkc.com/visitors/things-do/enter...

That's up to the city to remove, as far as I know. They insisted it be gargantuan in size and built around the columns, despite it being the lowest ridership on the original Main MAX alignment. Is there not even going to be a stop there? Nope! Conventioneers -- should they ever come back -- can wal...
