Re: New Broadway Bridge
It's worse than that If it starts on 670 instead it's arppox 0.75 miles shorter. So the state has to figure out if they need to change all ~2500 mile marker signs and all the exit signs that change what MM they fall between or if they can keep the status quo and they're just off and the same for I-3...

Re: COVID19
I bet it's vaccination locations + the mask use as a combined result. Mask use is higher in cities and suburbs. Vaccination herd immunity in rural areas thus has a bigger impact overall on the spread because cities need it less to start. People are complaining about the unbalanced events but it's cl...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
It’s already known the uninformed public and people in KCK are leery of “losing” the north loop cut through. It follows then that you’d roll out items one at a time. Give people some time to absorb the changes and keep the outrage pot from overflowing and killing the whole effort. People complained...

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village
Pedestrian spaces do not inherently draw pedestrians. They need to be in spaces where the pedestrian traffic is already intense. The principle of induced demand would prove otherwise. Case in point, look at the dog park at 32nd/N Oak where NKC and KC meet. It went from a giant empty field where no ...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
KC needs fewer highways, not more. This bridge redesign works to further the cause of adding highways everywhere, regardless of need. The bridge's replacement needs to have a modest design to provide access to the downtown airport, and should be pursuant to redirecting through-traffic to the Bond B...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
People don't pay attention until it's a bridge they can see. Every bridge across the Missouri River is getting the same design The US 69 bridge was replaced a few years ago. It was a pair of girder bridges and it no longer is. Modot added a pedestrian lane on the east side when it was built. The Cho...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
Do the engineers at MoDOT live on Mars? The last thing downtown KC needs is more urban renewal highway flyovers. I think the issue is they’re trying to make the new bridge both a highway and an urban arterial. It’s needs to be one or the other. Certainly more flyovers are bad but is is really worse...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
I’m really struggling to understand how this project serves residents of KCMO. They’re essentially building two bridges in place of one and adding a direct connection to the highway and taking up very valuable urban land in the process. All to make it easier for Northland residents to get to JoCo. ...

A church with a congregation probably has more $$$ backing it than a yuppie furniture shop? I mean I agree it should be saved but it’s not like their insurance will be like oh yeah we want this rebuilt. The average congregation is 70 people with a budget of $85k https://sites.duke.edu/ncsweb/files/...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Those two drive me insane. They don't seem to add anything of value to any topic. They both ran unopposed. There wasn't any chance for people to pick the best candidate. A political action committee that does nothing but finds candidates for city council so people at least have a choice would do a ...

I think a third is still lurking in the background. Lucas has made great strides to reduce and/or stop development. Fantastic This logic doesn't hold up How many miles of rail transit could we have built in the past 30 year that as tied up in incentives? Remember, it's not new taxes that cover ince...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
it's true that the airport police in Kansas City are always running people off from there, but definitely not for any good reason as it's actually detrimental to airport security to not have regular plane spotters who can ID and phone the police when they spot somebody irregular hanging out around ...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
I didn't think about it before, but the parking garage is going to be a great place to watch planes because there won't be anything between it and most of the airfield. Actually the middle of the airport it not a great place to watch planes. You will see them in the distance, but the ends of the ru...

That's not a bad idea. Maintain the space's history and actually be different from what we see elsewhere in the city.
There's one slight problem, sports betting is illegal in Missouri. Looks like there's bills to change that but as of right now this idea is impossible.

Environmental justice, like making sure low income populations are well served by transit is part of the assessment. Historic structure assessments, so the project doesn't destroy buildings it shouldn't. If you are building in an existing street or transit row, its not really a problem. The streetc...
