Re: Olathe's first Mixed Use

...that number came from the chairperson of the event. love too interject myself in JoCo controversy. also, Olathe is like the purist essence of that 435 South discount brand haughty aloofness. FYI- they renamed that magazine years ago. It's called 435 Magazine and it's targeted to all of the city ...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Looking at the past 30 years of stadiums I found ten that don't purposefully have a downtown view. San Francisco, Denver and Cincinnati as you mention Atlanta doesn't have a view of downtown. It's KC equivalent would be a view of College Blvd Both stadiums in NYC face away from Manhattan and Brookly...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

There are about 7 afternoon weekday games a year. Attendance is typically between 5-10k for those games. Any uptick in attendance would be from people already working downtown. Non issue. I doubt the IRS would open their garages, however, since those buildings are unoccupied during baseball season ...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

perhaps try to get away from thinking there always has to be new parking garages regardless of where this ship lands. Use what is readily available. Denver didnt build ANY new garages for the ballpark and only had 1-2 smallish surface lots. Rest was re-purposed from nearby offices, civic, etc. Here...

Re: Olathe's first Mixed Use

I liked how a three day festival should mean doing nothing best of all “This is going to affect Old Settlers in a big way,” Newbanks said. “But Old Settlers is just a small part of the entertainment we bring to the downtown. And the arts and crafts vendors pay sales tax that goes to the city. Thousa...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I'm a fan of The City Observed and glad a new version is in the works. I'm still skeptical of a downtown stadium in KC, but maybe Goldberger can change my mind on things. I agree that, if a stadium happens downtown, there are better places than the East Village area. Perhaps this city-owned site in...

lol I was more talking about the concrete itself. Looks way better than any KCMO road in this pic
They rendered it after a storm at dusk. Any road looks better in that situation.

Those streets sure don't match what is there haha
It's a fairly good match. They even have the fence where the right turn lane was removed. They mainly redid the streetscape with a lot more landscaping

Re: Downtown Parking Enforcement

The post sure sounded like you were very frustrated to walk a few blocks away from the restaurant you were attending. Apologies if i read it wrong. I don't get why anybody complains about parking in any of those neighborhoods and then is perfectly fine parking at Truman sports complex or their favo...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

I wonder if they have reason to think the owners would finally sell. Didn't the city explore purchasing this property before, like in the '80s or '90s, and the owners weren't interested? Or maybe it was a prospective convention hotel developer that was interested in it and was rebuffed. The giant s...

I know this is the internet and all, but do we really have to spend pages and pages of posts arguing over conjectures?

I wouldn't go there but there's a restaurants for all demographics. They would do very well near areas where women get jobs with companies in industries that have more flexibile hours for lunch. Medicine, law firms, creative roles, accounting. Also areas where families go. Crown Center comes to mind...

One thing that I didn't realize until recently is there's no pleasure boat docks at KC on the MO River

Omaha has a small marina and the other direction looks to be at Washington MO

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I really wonder if many retail places die because they just haven’t changed to a new market and customer. I went into Kendra Scott the other day and it was packed with people buying jewelry. Every time I go there it’s full. They have realized that connection to a community and giving back to it by ...

I don’t understand the complaints about parking downtown. However I recently went to the rivermarket and couldn’t take the streetcar. That parking situation was a nightmare. It was for Sunday brunch so area was busy. Your first problem was going to the river market to take the streetcar. Smart user...

does anyone know if united cut one of their direct flights to san francisco? they used to have one early in the morning 6am ish and another at night. Looks like they have cut it back to 1x a day for Nov, Dec, and most of Jan (just the 6 am one). Goes back to 2x Jan 24th. A little odd they wouldn't ...

I was pointing out his timeline is off. He was arguing it was a premier retailer from 80s to 00s and picked some companies that opened stores after that timeline as evidence it stopped having premier retailers. You did too to a degree Halls: through 2014 FAO Schwartz through 2009-17 Burberry throug...
