Re: Three Light

it also could prove there's plenty of extra road capacity in the system that could go to bike lanes.

The hotel project has closed truman road south for years and it's a non-issue

You can't see it well in the photo, but they started extending the structure towards the garage entrance. The new stairwell in the top photo near the right side is that area

Poor management. They've gone through dozens of general managers. https://www.kansascity.com/article239679508.html The company closed 40% of their restaurants. Their response was bad corporate speak. “Bar Louie is a profitable business focused on long-term growth with new investors. The sale throug...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

There is retail space in baggage claim and pre security departure level. I don't see any retail in baggage claim from the September plans. Their color scheme is super close to each other. Looks like it's lounge space (seating) There are some newer drawings on Compass What's the ID? I was looking at...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

In terms of basic functionality, the arrivals line does look better. No more mixing of shuttle busses and cars will help everyone Interestingly there's pick up on both levels. The valet pick up is on the departures level. Maybe they figure the valet will get bags??? It looks like the garden will be ...

Arterra was officially opened in early Jan 2019, but I seem to recall they occupied it before that.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The appeal is still going. Last week the KCATA requested oral arguments be rescheduled, it was supposed to be heard next week. The case was originally filed Jan 24, 2017. So we're at two years 10 months into this lawsuit. To put that in perspective the downtown line had its official groundbreaking ...

Re: KC's Big 5 needs for 2020s

Regarding buses leaving KCMO, that has been asked and answered by city officials. The free fare is ONLY for KCMO routes - will not include Johnson or Wyandotte Counties or other cities in MO (unless those jurisdictions want to pay the bill, and none have indicated they will even consider it). What'...

Oh, and not to mention walkways underneath the roadway as well so you didn’t have to cross traffic if you didn’t want to.
They needed tornado shelters. KCI uses the underground walkways for the same thing.

Pay is NOT rising quickly

Adjusting for inflation every year someone would be paid ~$67873 in 2019.

So the median income will buy just slightly less than in 2000.

Re: KC's Big 5 needs for 2020s

Fare Free Transit: I'm curious why folks think this is a good thing. First issue is that it is NOT system wide - only KCMO. So any bus that crosses to the other state, suddenly need a fare. I'm sure that will lead to a good bit of confusion when some buses picking up in downtown KCMO will require a...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I cannot think of an airport I have ever been to which really "impressed" me and felt like a great place to kill several hours. Honestly--what are the "gold standard" airports out there in terms of experience and functionality? Am I missing something? The gold standard is doing everything a little ...

You can outlaw anything, unless there's a law against outlawing it; but then you can just outlaw the law against outlawing the thing you want to outlaw. Signs are a form of speech. Good luck banning any form of speech. You can have architectural requirements for signs but not ban their existence. L...

Re: What Makes a Good Rooftop Sign?

I’d like to see company signs outlawed. I think they remove the need to make a building iconic because you can just slap a sign on the side for promotion. Instead of, “The Waddell & Reed building, you know, the one with the lighted spire on top.” you just look for the sign. You can't outlaw private...

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

I think part of the negativity I'm picking up here is just due to the Dollar General name attachment. If this was called Oak & Sage Apothecary and sold the same items on reclaimed lumber shelves (at 3 times the price), I think you would see different attitudes. I don't think the attitude will matte...

Just do a quick Google image search for 'DG X' This concept looks like a QT, a place to pick up junk food. Kinda trashy for the Crossroads and nowhere near an urban Target. Trashy? The quality of low end is rising to doable levels. Cheap flat panel TVs are an example.
The cheap flat panel TVs are now sometimes coming with advertising that shows on screen. You're confusing the cost you pay with the cost to create the product.
