If your search Blue Springs comes up.
Does it matter what I search? Will Blue Springs come up if I look for Panera?

Re: Pursuing FREE City-Wide Bus

2019 Budget page 18 https://www.kcata.org/documents/uploads/2019Budget.pdf In millions Fares: $9.16 Total Budget: $111.09 million So fares are 8.2% of the KCATA budget. It's not split up enough to find the cost, but not paying for the fare systems, printing passes and all that will counter some of t...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

The $2 million is tied to bond repayment. I wouldn't expect it's taken away anytime soon.

Also, the streetcar didn't take $2 million from busses, something to reiterate.

The bus tax is 0.375%.
The *all transit* tax is 0.5%

The city's portion is funded from the second one

Re: Companies moving downtown

It’d be quite easy to have the garage entry off of Wyandotte and, given the grade change, leave 14th and Baltimore as active use of either retail or lobby. Keep in mind Wyandotte is frequently closed because of conventions. The city would need to be willing to change their processes here before it'...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

If a new city manager is coming from outside the goal should be someone with experience in a city doing things the way KC wants to do. I don't care what city it is, we should look at what they're doing right regardless of the size. On the older incentives posts just above, once key point that's been...

Re: Pursuing FREE City-Wide Bus

Conservatives should love free bus service countywide.

It’s not a direct handout because anyone in the community can use it, compared to direct handouts to some individuals with free fare cards or reduced cost service like today.

The first step has been taken https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/kcmo-city-council-to-decide-on-free-bus-fares The Kansas City, Missouri, City Council on Thursday gave approval to a proposal to eliminate public bus fares, positioning the city to become the first major metropolitan area with free p...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

What's the best way to address the elderly living in large homes they can no longer afford to keep up physically or financially? New options within the same community. There's information that living alone results in a more rapid decline and earlier death, so being around other people is the critic...

The proposed terminal site is one of the more interesting locations in the city. Rivers moving created most of the weirdness

It's split among the cities of KC and Independence
It's split among Independence, KC and NKC Schools
It's split among Jackson and Clay County

I wonder if they'll close the small port facility in the West Bottoms if this becomes a reality. I imagine it’d be easier to consolidate all river traffic, I didn’t even know the WB port was still in operation, what do they even process over there? it reopened in 2015 Given they have rail connectio...

An empty freight car is about 30 tons
The streetcars are 39 tons empty

I can see why an insurer would want to insure that way.

The Garment District isn't going anywhere unless the offer is just too good to turn down. Cordish is getting hundreds of younger, well paid employees who will need a place to li...

Any renderings? I think it’s all geotechnical work for now. Which is needed to identify the basic design, lest we end up with something like this https://cbsnews1.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2018/08/14/1bb4fcfe-a325-4cab-bc10-5b8a4bd91b9a/thumbnail/620x413/0dc9a42a19d928296e41d9820749830b/rts1xbo3.jpg

Those lots south of CC would make a great baseball stadium location. Great views too. Don't know if they are big enough. There are enough acres but the layout doesn’t work. I think it gets too narrow with Union Cemetery to the south. It might barely be big enough, it would have to front Main. Cutti...

Yes, all these mythological eaters and drinkers associated with baseball games explain the nexus of eateries/bars that sprung up around Truman Sports Complex since 1973 -- seeing that there is still undeveloped, fairly-cheap land (compared to downtown) around it. Once would think in 46 years, at le...

I don’t understand “East Village is better to be developed as a mixed use area”. It’s literally been decades. If it was going to happen, it would have happened.
There's parking lots downtown that have been around since the 1920s. A few decades is nothing on that scale.
