Re: Kansas City Needs a Proper Christmas Market

Barney Allis Plaza, Washington Square Park, and Oppenstein Park all seem like they would be decent for this. I could also get behind City Market Park.

Re: No More One-Way Streets in Downtown...

Noticed on the KCMO Capital Projects site that is lists a conversion of 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th street to two-way as a project that is underway. Currently they are in predesign and analyzing 13 intersections that would be affected. Construction period says 11/31/2024- 12/21/2025.

Re: Rockhill Greens senior housing development moves forward

About a block away from this project is the old “New Landing Mall”. Sunflower Development was involved with a redevelopment plan of the mall, but that seems to have fallen through around the start of the pandemic. I wonder if they will begin pursuing redevelopment again for the old mall site once th...

I wonder if they are taking any of the flooding that occurs in this area into account. This street flash floods horribly in big rains.

Noticed today that Brady’s (used to be Mikes) on Troost had a for lease sign next to the building. Little bit of a bummer to see a nice place on Troost close up.

Notice two core drill testing operations. One in the Catholic cathedral parking lot at 11th and Broadway and the other close to the crossroads academy at 9th and Broadway. Thinking the second one is for their gym? I had thought the gym was planned for the current Quality Hill dog park at 9th and Wa...

The renderings on Clockwork's website are different than what has previously been out there. I do not know which are the most recent:

Re: Brookside

The way the building looks, I would be willing to bet its something like a Meshuggah Bagels Funny you should mention that. I was talking to someone at Meshuggah a month or two ago and they said they were extremely close to signing a lease in Brookside, but then the One Light opportunity opened up f...

Couple BKS tidbits:
- Brookside Barkery is moving to the location on Oak & 63rd once occupied by Plate
- Have been told that Fiddly Fig is moving/closing (not sure which) and a restaurant will be occupying their spot on 63rd street

I'm not sure that the rendering provided in that story is true to what is proposed for 3rd and Grand. On the Klover Architect website, that same rendering is used for a project in the Delano area of Wichita.

I don't recall seeing this rendering of Ashland. NSPJ website gives completion date of 2021.

This is the document for Project Decoy that referred to 'recreating the skyline'... https://edckc.s3.amazonaws.com/AdvanceKC%2011Oct2019/Project%20Decoy%20Overview.pdf So what might have happened is that W&R decided to build their own dedicated building and decided not to choose Project Decoy (...

If it is any consolation, I've heard a substantiated rumor that a significant development is in the works for the surface lot to the east.

I believe the facepalm was in reference to, and correct me if I’m wrong, the thought that it would be ok to block the parks view of the downtown skyline and instead to use it as an office park amenity.

Incentives for an amphitheater when Sandstone (or whatever it's called now) is within what? Half a mile? Not that I agree with incentives, or even an arts facility in this location, but the amphitheater somewhat makes sense in this spot, given that it is designed to be a school for aspiring "r...
