August BLS job report out for KC.. https://www.bls.gov/eag/eag.mo_kansascity_msa.htm Construction employment continues to climb, up a whopping 7.1% compared to last Aug, outpacing still hot Austin, while rest of Midwest construction jobs mostly shrinking. Hospitality jobs slowly improves but still d...

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom

Yet another Midtown plan thanks to streetcar extension looking more realistic. The historic Kansas City National Guard Armory at 3620 Main is slated to be renovated as a food court and boutique hotel, part of the redevelopment wave occurring along Main Street in anticipation of the planned extension...

Re: Economy

It's normal for KC to have much higher labor force in July than March but is interesting that the US labor force in July is NOT higher than Feb yet KC's July IS higher than Feb. However KC's July 2020 is lower than July 2019 so may not necessarily mean a major population boost. Hard to say as some s...

If Cordish wants to pay for it all then they can do what they wish with it but if city funds are also used they can't just do what they please with it. That's my stance. Agree if 100% paid by Cordish but if partly/mostly paid by public then Cordish should only get a private area that represents aro...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

^Unlikely a coincidence and we'll see many more property sales or projects of some form occur along the corridor specifically because of the streetcar essentially happening now.

Stopped into DGX today. Yeah, more variety than I expected. Would think they'll fine tune with what neighborhood wants over time.

Re: COVID-19 Casualties

I'm in Tampa airport now waiting for flight to KC and have not seen the airport this dead. Like KCI, nearly all concessions/restaurants closed. Have also traveled in April, May and July but surprising TPA is less foot traffic than any trip last several months. TSA Precheck doesn't even have a separa...

The Kansas City metro saw 849 business closings — both temporary and permanent — between March 1 and July 10, according to a spokesman for the San Francisco-based crowd-sourced review business. As of July 10, 489 businesses in the region have closed permanently, including 127 restaurants and 66 ret...

^For homes. That impacts the pricing however home sales this July were higher than any month over last year+ too. New home construction starting to pick up but seems most want existing homes in established neighborhoods. For apts, supply is keeping up with demand, slightly higher than demand.

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

With metro areas like NYC and SF Bay areas experiencing an exodus partly due to COVID directly and partly due to expanded work from home/anywhere allowing many to leave, I wonder if KC is attracting some of them. KC housing is getting tighter despite uptick in home construction and while growing sup...

KC metro home prices are jumping. Home construction also up in July over last 12 months. Supply decreased by nearly 50% in year, over 2 years ago there were over 9K properties available, now under 5K. Average days on market (resale) for July under 30 days. http://kcrar.com/Websites/kcrarar/images/20...

Seems many current Trump followers fall into one of the 'supremacist' categories that Trump empowers - white supremacy, nationalistic supremacy and/or Christian supremacy. Not all but many. Isolationists also attracted to him but maybe fall into one of the three. The remaining seem to think he is on...
