Re: Companies moving downtown

My expectations are very low. Expecting a utilitarian looking building. Anything better would then exceed my expectations. :)

Re: Pursuing FREE City-Wide Bus

Anyone have any solid knowledge on if the Jo will follow suit with it since they are apart of the ride KC brand? Talk about actually tying the region together if they get on board! Dave didn't seem to have any insight. Would be surprising if JoCo/KS govt would pursue it as they likely don't want to...

Re: Pursuing FREE City-Wide Bus

This is great news. It very well may fail or create issues that don't outweigh the benefits but this is worth trying given KC's difficulty to get people to use public transit.

So would this start around May or so? The next fiscal budget cycle?

It doesn't suck but a low unit count for such a large site.

From the Star, it sounds like several restaurants are about to join this list: https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article237831274.html The reasons given; overbuilding of restaurants, labor shortages etc... seem to be national phenomena and not necessarily limited ...

Re: Companies moving/expanding to KC area

California aerospace company considers KC for expansion Ducommun AeroStructures, a California-based aerospace manufacturer, might be looking for space in Kansas City. The company also is evaluating plans to expand in Coxsackie, N.Y., a small town south of Albany where the company already has a 146,0...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Yeah was wondering why the street itself was entirely wrong. They may intend a building similar to this.

Is a little disappointing only 3 developers responded for such a prime spot. Would've hoped for more national developers jumping in, especially as downtown rents are rising.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

145 apts with streetfront retail proposed for NE corner of 3rd/Grand. Would think they could more than double that, especially with that large of a lot. edit: Says 145 apts in first paragraph but then this... The CBC/EPC plan calls for a six-story development that includes 161 apartments, 30,000 squ...

It will be more interesting to see if free fare bus occurs and if it would be used more to airport. Though it would also need to run more often from downtown.

The luxury apartment tower was set to start sometime in the fourth quarter of 2019, but the company pushed back the start date to accommodate some changes in design. The project, which was initially planned to be a 300-unit, $130 million building will now increase to 322 units and $150 million. Tho...

Not necessarily even by bike. They could ride their bike to the bus and use that to get to the airport. Really doubtful. I’ve never seen anyone riding a bike with a suitcase on their back. Bike racks would likely never be used. I flew last weekend with only a backpack. ^I do that quite a bit, more ...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Apparently so. Maybe garages with buildings on top. Would take all of this with grain of salt as it's a pretty weak 'plan', not a proposal yet, which is why I didn't post this in a dedicated thread. Pretty thin at the moment.
