Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
For those that don't know, 470 regularly backs up from the triangle clear to US 50 in the mornings and the same thing EB at night. So the new backups showing up along the eastern portion of 470 are in addition to that.

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
The station in Lee's Summit seems to always have amtrak trains passing through. It would seem like a perfect place for commuter rail. I-470 is getting horrible. In the last year, it has started backing up in areas between 50 and 70 around the interchanges of Douglas, Colbern and Woods Chapel and ...

Re: Planning for Upscale Lee's Summit Shopping Center
So, why not put a roof on it? It's 5 degrees outside, this isn't LA.

This irritates me to no end.
I studied journalism to some degree at MU and knew many in the field. KU Star gets mostly leftovers after the Post Dispatch does their hiring. The Post is a real paper that covers national stories and national sports along with very good local coverage unlike the Star which puts the most amazing sma...

Downtown Baseball Stadium
I would love for KC to stop being a cow town and build the new Arena, Stadium and Arts Center. Don't see it happening though, I don't think enough people here can thing that progressively. StL is about to steal what’s lefts of Missouri’s on the fence baseball fans. The experience at the new StL ...

60 percent of the people live in MO, 60 percent of new homes get built in MO, but 60 percent of the Star’s staff live in KS and it shows. They should rename the real estate section the Johnson County section, 8 out of ten of those are all joco. They should rename the sports section the KU section ...

KCMO should get all of the money. Seriously. I wish everybody would realize that KCMO is our city, and that it is alright to support it. EXACTLY! When I lived in W County, I and most people I knew didn't mind our tax money going to the Zoo, The Science Center, America's Center etc. If the bu...

Most famous building in Kansas City?
People! Most people can barely recognize NYC's skyline and without the twin towers, even that is a challenge for many people. They know its NYC or Chicago usually. A city other than NYC or a bay bridge shot or the Sears Tower and people are clueless. Show someone skyline shots that don't include the...

Will Raytown see a renaissance?
I have found Raytown to be a rather confortable close in suburb. It does have a blue collar feel to it, but I don't see the redneck stuff people are speaking of, at least no more than you see in any other part of KC. Face it, KC has a lot of pickup truck driving people that enjoy hunting, fishing an...

Arena in OP, No tax breaks?
Devin, this is anoying reading a thread and having to scroll back and forth, that's what bahua was saying. KC is not big enough to have super suburbs like Chicago and Dallas do. StL has a million more people and they don't have anything even close to OP. Even Clayton, (which is more like the Plaza t...

Brandsmart leaving Brookside/Waldo, kinda sad...
Well they are making a big deal out of closing the Waldo store yet I was in Independence yesterday and that store (one of the newest and largest) has quietly closed as well.
Brandsmart is in trouble, and think NFM and Ult Elect dealt them a final blow.

What kind of chance do members of the forum give this Downtown stadium idea? I am a big sports fan, but I don't think I will vote yes for the bistate tax as it is now presented. Even though I live 30 miles from Downtown, I would pay a tax to bring KC into the 21st century with a new Downtown ballpar...

New Shopping Center in Blue Springs
From what I have heard, this is going to happen, this is a national developer that knows how to pull off big projects and does it all the time unlike the Mall at Fall Creek. Plus the Adams Dairy Pkwy is a very sexy area to developers with the very extensive amounts of landscaping, fountains and soon...

Metro North Mall
Simon needs to get a hold of Metro North.
What they have done with Independence Center is amazing, not only does the mall have a waiting list and could now used a major expansion, the entire area around the mall is blowing up and some of that could be due to the success of the mall itself.

Lee's Summit is HUGE!
Sounds like me, remember? :). Holly crap, driving in from the KCI airport I took I-29 to 150 east to 435 south. I had no idea the northtown was growing so much. I usually take 435 all the way and see nothing past 35. That was just insane. How big could this area get? ....Yet another southlander disc...

Bass Pro will probably go to Indep area, Eastland update...
If Bass Pro goes to Independence, it will take over half the traffic from Cabella's. Cabella's is on the way to nothing and the pass through traffic out there has to be next to nothing on I435 to KCI and near nothing on I70 plus you can't see it from I70. The whole KC area can easily get to 470 and ...

A three story building is not a "midrise". Lowrise at best.
Nice pics though.
