Re: Poll: Power & Light District Dress Code
Had a conversation with a person on the inside of this issue, my CI with the P&L . What the deal is Cordish wants to limit the number of minorities into the area. She didn't share what the number was but when the limit is reached minorities are to be turned away for whatever reason can be fou...

Re: Poll: Power & Light District Dress Code
It is so watered down I doubt Cordish even has to print new dress code signage. Agree KCP. This is a pointless ordinance and it accomplishes nothing -- created purely for political grandstanding by Beth G. P&L will have to work to educate the public that passage of this ordinance doesn't mean...

I also think the older bands appeal to a demographic that has a bit more disposable income.Highlander wrote: Seems like a lot of older bands are touring now. I'm just wondering if they are trying to make up for losses they took when their investments went south when the stock market crashed.

Not me. But maybe, just maybe, I will be able to finally catch Styx and REO at Starlight. For the last 6 to 8 years when these guys have been in town there have always been a conflict (I thought long and hard about not going to my daughter's wedding since they were in town that night). And hopef...

Re: Dress Code Ordinance
Come the end of the day, it doesnt matter how someone "interprets" or "assumes" something. The P&L district is completely seperate from the businesses operating within it, Period. Simply put, if you're (not you AP but people in general) going to argue against something (lik...

Exactly. Right NOW the CITY ISNT INVOLVED, and that's how it should be. Hell, CORDISH isn't even involved (Outside of the common area within the P&L district). They're Privately owned and operated businesses, leasing space from cordish. The plan is for the city to set up rules saying what ca...

None being left out, my son is handicapped he arrived three hours early. My brother went to a event at the sprint last year and parked in the tailgate parking lot with his daughter, she had to use the restroom none was supplied by sprint. It cost them both 5 dollars each to use a restroom at a rest...

Re: KC's Potential Budget Woes...
The cops are out in full force defending their jobs. I've received two e-mails now from the beat officers in my neighborhood. They want us to go to hearings and speak against budget cuts in the police department. I respect cops but I don't like KCMO cops. We may or not need to cut the PD budget ...

Re: Arena Parking Challenge
Couldn't you get your ticket validated at the end of your shift? Or right at 11? I think there's a misconception about validated parking. Sometimes people just think it's free, but someone has to pay for it. At my place of employment (downtown) we validate parking for visitors to our building. ...

Maybe someone can clarify the volunteer ordinance for me. I thought it prohibited Glo from playing a significant role in her husbands office. I interpreted the word "office" as meaning "elected office", not the physical location. Wouldn't the ordinance prevent her participatio...

It seems that I can't make my own post so I will post my comments here. I am an employee at one of the restaurants in the Power and Light District and it has come to my attention that the KC Live parking garage is no longer accepting my validated ticket. The employees and businesses are what is po...

SC is dark a lot and Celine Dion concert goers don't support local restaurants/bars the way rowdy sports fans do. Celine concert goers bought a lot of dinners at local bars and restaurants (on the higher end side) before the show -- go ask the restaurants around downtown. The Kansas City Cafe has ...

Re: St. Patrick's Day Parade Moving to Midtown
On another note, we did approach Cordish before last years parade to become a corporate sponsor and have some type of joint event, but we viewed their interest as somewhat underwhelming. A partnership seemed natural, but just never materialized. Again, this is for this year. We'll all see how it go...

Re: St. Patrick's Day Parade Moving to Midtown
Did you talk to the neighborhood associations in Midtown? From what I've heard, many were caught off guard by this announcement. Uncle Jay, I saw the answer to this but wanted to explore a little further. Did you talk to the neighborhood associations before you made the decision to move the parad...
