Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I don't care if they spend some money on bike racks, I just think it's amusing. I can see the use case, I just can't see it happening in reality. I've already had to hear excessive bellyaching about how they're putting in bike lanes up north. BUT MAH TRAFFIC! MAH CAR!

Bless their hearts.

Don't forget the spaceship docks and alien customs / interplanetary arrivals, and the unicorn stables.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I'd say put in one. Then if it ever gets used, which it won't, consider yourself lucky. Then in the particularly unlikely event that it is in use and some other person shows up with a bike, tell them they win the most improbable flyer award and name the airport after them.

Re: Amenities missing from downtown

Not sure I would call Grad School a diner. That said the Full Ride cheeseburger at Grad School may be the best burger I've ever eaten (not tried the Corvino/Ravenous counterpart, but want to!) I guess what is or is not a "diner" is a matter of more debate than I thought. Prefab type structure with a...

I walk on Baltimore between 12th and 14th several times a day, and so do at least five or six other people.

Tangential, but does it annoy anyone else that the Library stop is a lot closer to the Metro Center than the Metro Center stop?

Yeah, I was just referring to the beautiful-looking weather which was replaced by a haze of frozen precipitation this morning.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I can't get on board with removing the North Loop stop. It doesn't get a lot of traffic at the moment, but if and when that sea of parking gets developed it should, and having the stop there would seem to incentivize said development to some degree. So I say keep it.

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

A street having signs with different letters on it than it had before means racial justice is a higher priority than if the letters stayed the same?

Hot take.

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

I am somewhat sympathetic to that position, but if rejecting a poorly-thought-out change that wasn't run by the people impacted by it means we're all racists, bring on the nuclear holocaust because Trump is going to be leader for life and I don't want to live in this reality anymore.

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

My suggestion of Truman was mostly tongue-in-cheek based on Truman's history of saying thing like, "Any man's as good as another as long he's not a n***** or a Chinaman," and then desegregating the military.

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

Count me as a yes. I've always loved the name. I failed to graduate from the highschool that borrowed it. That is just about the only street I would have objected to. If we got to propose an alternate, I'd maybe suggest Truman. Or any of the boring numbered streets. Anything east-west really, tying ...

Re: Hyperloop between KC and STL

Hyperloop operations is at least 7-10 years out. The near-term possibility is a test and certification track, if KC is selected. Wait now, the whole reason I was converted to a streetcar supporter was because you convinced me that nobody would ever spend money on unproven PRT tech that was way less...
