Re: On-going downtown development projects

Goal should be to finally get a Target downtown. It's been awhile since we've heard about it and I think we need to press for it again with Target. I think getting one would get other scared retailers or stores to follow their lead downtown. Sounds a bit like a novel, arbitrary goal but I think I m...

Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties

CompassKC got a new upload that includes only letters against. Here's a summary Old Hyde Park Neighborhood Association - Wants more parking because 183 spaces for 450 bedrooms in an area with little parking will cause major congestion and parking issues. The scale is also too large for the neighbor...

I know it's wrong, but I can't help connecting Crispin Rea to Funkhouser. I know everything connected to that mayor shouldn't stink with him, but somehow in my head it does.

Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge

But for some reason, everybody wanted I-35/29 traffic routed thought there even though the west loop won't be able to handle it anyway. Like KC needs another damn limited access freeway plowing through downtown. Modot could have put all that money they are spending on those ramps into a better brid...

What happened to the money the city gave to make this a “more iconic bridge” and why did we give a dime?

im usually a cheerleader for just about anything KC wants to build but this seriously sucks in every imaginable way. i hope this project fails to get off the ground... i mean, half of your ferris wheel experience will be viewing an underpass and the other half is watching traffic go by with one of ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Suburban Jackson County people won’t get on board until it’s connected to the Chiefs and they have already threatened to move to Kansas. They’ll rightfully reason that it’s better to vote for a Royals DT stadium if it means they keep the Chiefs where they are.

How would this be different than the P&L block? It seems it would get easier the bigger the excavation size because the force would be spread. A wider hole is always more stable then a deep narrow one, right?

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

That wouldn't be done today. What wouldn't be done today? More so than just the outrageous cost, I’d say safety/security plays a role. Having a stadium where 30,000+ can get together would be a target for less than desirable people who are crazy enough to be on a mission of terror. What outrageous ...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Stadiums are often already below ground level. It probably not cheaper or easier to dig even further I do know the K has the stadium lower than the actual field. With such a massive area under the field, you wouldn't even need it to be very deep (like P&L) to provide a significant amount of par...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

That wouldn't even be technically possible. Have you not seen the ceiling clearance heights on modern garages? Good luck getting any kind of big delivery truck inside. Right. So what would be the realistic fear with burying the parking garage under a stadium field area? It would be cheaper and easi...
