No windows in the bedroom of the 1br is an interesting move at ~$1400/mo.
What?! The whole building is one giant window. I don’t understand.

Re: Companies moving downtown

Probably best they didn’t develop the station by the looks of those buildings they built. Dodged a bullet.

What amount will H&R Block get in this deal?

Re: Westport

That might be what kills SZ. That 7-11 seems like a huge step down from their current location. Maybe they think people will have easier access to parking if they move Buying a building will give them price and location security. I really think rents will skyrocket in the area in the next several y...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

If H&R’s option expires, Cordish would be next in line. I still think it’s complete garbage that H&R pulled this move on Cordish. I could care less about Cordish in this instance. I just don’t like H&R Block getting a benefit for literally doing nothing. They should put up the backup funds to cover...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

Sounds like it can get approval if the city residual backing component is removed. It’s a $62M credit that will likely never be needed. Why can’t H&R Block put up the credit? They aren’t doing anything to be part of this development. They had an option to build a second tower for themself, but didn’...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I really wonder if many retail places die because they just haven’t changed to a new market and customer. I went into Kendra Scott the other day and it was packed with people buying jewelry. Every time I go there it’s full. They have realized that connection to a community and giving back to it by s...

Re: Downtown Parking Enforcement

I complained on here about people parking in the turning lane along the streetcar a few months ago and got read the riot act, like I had broken some urbanity law. Charge for parking. Enforce parking rules. It’s what other major cities do. Why should it be different here?

Re: Companies moving/expanding to KC area

Is DT now starting a corporate relocation boom? W&R and USDA just announced and I’m hearing a few others that are considering making the move while incentives are still intact and locations are still prevalent. Here we go!

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I really liked their sandwiches and, to be honest, they might be right about parking on this one. I wanted to pick up a quick sandwich a couple times but couldn’t find a place to park. They should have held their two street spots for 5 minute parking or pick up customers only.

Re: Companies moving downtown

You could have said the same thing 20 years ago when the site was first being floated around. Yet, here we are a fifth of a century later with nothing on that lot still. If we ever get to the point where all blocks are filled in the CBD, it will be far enough down the road that either - other small...

I’ll predict it passes. Tough negotiation but I think they compromise just enough to squeak across the finish line.

Re: Companies moving downtown

There are plenty of other places to build tall office buildings. Kansas City doesn't grow that fast. Every empty lot a block east and west of the streetcar line DT will be used in the next 20 years. It’s hard to know if this pushes development through DT or if location is such a priority that lower...

Re: Companies moving downtown

The problem is that these low rise buildings will take premium locations that could then not be used for actual high rises or nice demand and density continues to increase in future years. I have to think we’ll have some regret losing these prime spots.

The only new housing that is affordable is heavily-subsidized. Yes, an many new voices I hear are calling for all new tax subsidized residential buildings to have an affordable component. Personally, I think reduced regulation and easier approvals will increase supply and cut pricing. I am surprise...

If the city wants taller buildings, put a height minimum to put corporate signage on the top of a building.

Not to start that discussion all over again, but one team can only muscle 11 others with permission from some of that group. They should have stuck together better.

Re: KU-MU rivalry reborn?

I just really do not understand why MU and Nebraska found it advantageous to leave. Both have not contended for national championships in their new league, have to travel huge distances and have developed mediocre rivals at best. They should come back.
