Re: New Broadway Bridge
Do we not all understand how generational of an impact the north loop changes will be? Seriously it's gigantic and this bridge is the only way. If we didn't build this bridge to accomplish that we would all be bitching we were shortsighted and didn't plan for it. Asked earlier but never got a respo...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
Is there a trail around the DT airport? There wouldn’t be as many planes to watch but would still be nice, especially if they’re going to put bike lanes on the new bridge/repurpose the current.

Re: Unruh Furniture
Maybe HKC can hold a car wash and raise some cash. The insurance question is an interesting one. They may not pay for a faithful reproduction of the church, so is it enough that, say, the exterior of the building is preserved minus the stained glass windows and the inside is a white box? How much d...

Re: Unruh Furniture
I really hate it, but I have a feeling this building is a loss. I can’t imagine the cost of work to fix it would be worth the value of the building afterwards. Sucks.

People always want to hate what someone else is excited about and they don’t understand.

Re: Downtown Casino
I LOVE quixotic but it cost over 25 million last time to renovate. To make it a theatre again, 3-5 million would be required. Customize it in order to handle special rigging requirements and add in sound and lighting equipment and you're at 7 million before the first tickets sold! I never suggested...

Concourse connector is a little shorter and not as grand as I imagined but it all looks very nice. Great for KC.

Re: New Broadway Bridge
Anyone else hoping that some of the old city employees responsible for city planning and roads take the early retirement and we get some good urban development minds to replace them?

If they can make money at it, why aren't they combining it with the bridge project?KCPowercat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 4:51 pmLord help us if they let KS pressure them out of it.
It's a project they can literally make money at.

Not a chance. They'll do a commute study with north loop gone, get pressure from Kansas and claim poverty or "more pressing projects". Never trust MoDot.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 4:39 pmI think MoDot will see the financial benefit in it and hence be a lot easier to make happen.

Re: New Broadway Bridge
My commute is at 5:45 in the morning so it's only a few minutes longer to go through NKC. I'm not sure how much longer it is during normal commute times. I just don't understand what is gained as a whole by inconveniencing such a large swath of the city by taking away one of four bridges that even ...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
Bringing 9 to grade and reducing the north loop plans are going to be impacted/eliminated without better 69 capabilities and those two projects are immensely bigger than a sexy bridge. But see, I don’t even think north loop will be redone even with this bridge. It’s a total bait and switch. The sub...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
For those proponents of axing any connection to downtown via 169, how are people who live in the western half of the northland supposed to access downtown? If 169 was no longer an option then the only remaining lanes go through NKC or get bottlenecked to a single lane where 29 and 35 merge. Fairfax...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
This will take strain off the whole system downtown heading towards 169 NB Honestly, I don't understand this board sometimes. Some people are always complaining we don't have enough auto traffic for the roads that we have and some, like you, are saying we need to take strain off the system. Persona...
