Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

The only american airport that really wow-ed me is the expansion/renovation at IAH a few years ago (and to a lesser extent the international terminal at EWR)... Those were the first two that I thought of as well. SFO is also very nice. All the others are fairly similar and unrememberable. AMS is pr...

Re: What Makes a Good Rooftop Sign?

I’d like to see company signs outlawed. I think they remove the need to make a building iconic because you can just slap a sign on the side for promotion. Instead of, “The Waddell & Reed building, you know, the one with the lighted spire on top.” you just look for the sign.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I don’t think Northloop removal is a part of this project. They can’t design the thing for a Northloop removal that could or couldn’t happen in the future. Make the exit after the bridge connect with 169/6th St as it will still be in place with North Loop removal or would make easy change to new bo...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Doesn't look like much usable land after you factor in RR tracks, interchanges, etc. I have heard nothing on anything like this but maybe a trail network hub? https://www.linecreekloudmouth.com/.a/6a01630272cfde970d0240a4c4b386200b-pi I didn’t realize the split of 35S and Broadway would be so far n...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

If the proposal is anywhere close to accurate, these are the only two buildings that would need to be sacrificed for the central alignment. Any idea on what the plan would be for the land where the bridge run up is now? I assume it would be grafted back into the street system and the land sold for ...

I think we're going to see Central alignment and I'm okay/happy with that.

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

Google Fiber raising prices again. Do we think they will crash out of this market? They seem to have lots of competition trying to win back customers with cheaper prices and comparable speed.

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom

This is just speculation, but I seem to remember this developer mentioning the streetcar extension as an impetus for these developments -perhaps they are waiting for confirmation of the federal funds before breaking ground. I hear a lot of other developers planning the same timing. I think it’s a m...

Re: Thinking outside the box on transit financing

I guess I am a little confused. Are you saying we need 3 counties including KCMO to raise a 3/8th cent sales tax just to maintain the los that KCMO’s current 3/8th tax funds? Talking about setting up a regional transportation fund with the other counties matching our current 3/8ths and renewing our...

Re: Thinking outside the box on transit financing

New, but in KCMO it should replace the 3/8-cent sales tax that sunsets in 2024. In that case, we would need sales taxes approved in Jackson, Clay and Platte at that level or higher to ensure the same level of service exists today. We're getting high because of all of these special districts. That s...

Why would they put a grass median there? Every time they do that, it just encourages dangerous panhandling.

However, just drove that way. It's nothing to just continue south on Brookside Road right now. If it was going to be a problem it would already be a problem. Currently, Blvd and Rd do not line up. To keep going south, you’d have to turn left and then immediately turn right across busy Meyer. Almost...

Re: Brookside

Language aside, the neighborhood does not want all of the traffic coming south on Brookside Blvd funneling directly south to Brookside Road. This is likely what will happen. Brookside Rd will get more traffic that would normally jog to Wornall and there is currently very little traffic on it and la...

Are you suggesting a new sales tax (we’re already getting very high) or consolidation of our current transportation tax with other municipalities?

And for non-Plaza traffic (like museum visitors or Costco runs) coming from the South, Ward Parkway or Wornall to Meyer to Brookside Blvd is as fast as Southwest Trafficway. Exactly! We don’t need people flying through that area like SW Trafficway. We need north-south connections because the city s...

Re: Brookside

Studies indicate that passenger car traffic prefers Meyer Boulevard to 63d Street (and that was both how it was intended and how it has been in practice for nearly 100 years). If the city terminates Brookside Boulevard at 63d, we would lose an important boulevard to boulevard connection. People cho...
