Re: Urban Core Drivers

How do you know it’s widespread? Your view of a road is a fraction of a day. Also, what makes you think there isn’t deterrence? Given your minority view could they be enforcing it at times you aren’t on the road? This is the same logic fault as someone saying they don’t see bicyclists so there’s no...

Your first assumption is the police are there to see them driving.
It seems so widespread lately though that there just can’t be any deterrence happening. Do the police even know it’s illegal?

Re: Urban Core Drivers

I’ve been seeing lots of large delivery, even semi-size trucks on boulevards through the area. They destroy trees and are too large for urban lanes. Do police not ticket for these trucks being on boulevards they’re not supposed to?

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Part of the reason this is not possible, and why the bridge was never shut completely is due to harm it would potentially cause to Children's Mercy and VML based at the airport. Sorry, not buying it. Sure CMH transports into the DT airport for quick transfer of organs for transplant, but they have ...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Honestly, I’d probably just prefer they implode the current bridge and not build anything back. Adding 15 minutes to a Northland commute might actually get some of those people to move into the city.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

My preference is an interesting bridge too. If MoDot would live up to their responsibilities maybe the KCMO add on could have made it pretty vs. making it even feasible. Or just name it after a Senator. It will always get a good aesthetic upgrade if it’s named after a Senator. Call it the ‘Donald T...

Inside Science City? That's probably going to be in the basement space they put exhibits in
Yeah, that’s true. Will probably take the place of the dinosaur exhibit. Wouldn’t have any connection to science and Science City.

That's the fifth redone space in the past ~2 years. Good to see movement on updating it.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I would have to imagine that if the piers don't line up the Port Athority will kill the idea of keeping the old bridge. Would make navigation a issue. Perhaps, but they also seem to be one of the cheapest organizations out there. Selling the reduced cost of not having to implode the old bridge migh...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Nashville kept their old bridge for pedestrians and build a new stylish one. I don't think anyone seeks out the new one despite its pretty design. Wait, I never thought of this! Are we keeping the old bridge or is it getting blown up? Not a direct lineup but could save some money on a pedestrian tr...

Correct. The last items will be the connection to the existing track and catenary to avoid lengthy outages on the starter line.
Thanks for the information.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

My assumption has been one big shot. That’s the way the starter line was of course, but it was the starter line. The extension is also longer. It seems if half the new line has the track laid and a means to turn around you could get it open almost a year or more earlier than when all the track is f...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Will the extension be launched in phases or all at one launch. For example, will they build and launch US to 39th St before the rest of the line to 51st St is built out? I know there is a turnaround set at 39th.

Traffic engineers that don't want them. KC over-engineers or waters down bike projects, which raises the price and simultaneously sets them up to fail. Other cities that have more progressive and bike-friendly staff find ways to implement projects successfully and many are quick-build to reduce cos...

What does ‘Associate’ mean at an architecture firm? An associate at a law firm is a lot different than an associate in other businesses. When I worked at the Gap in 1990, we were called associates. Just sayin.
