At the airport this morning. Ghost town. Apparently they are saving their pennies on maintenance. Place looks like shit and the escalator to the food court is still broken. How many months now?

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between

Those lots south of CC would make a great baseball stadium location. Great views too. Don't know if they are big enough. There are enough acres but the layout doesn’t work. I think it gets too narrow with Union Cemetery to the south. I would assume some of the cemetery would have to be moved. Which...

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village

It’s always talked about how stadiums bring restaurants and bars and increased traffic. I’m not so sure that’s the direct case. Stadiums increase transit options. Transit options increase traffic. So, a DT stadium is most exciting to me because it likely increases rail and other transit options to ...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

A downtown stadium is a lot farther along than is advertised. Yes, it sounds like things are moving....quickly Let’s not forget that the East Village is an opportunity zone. This will make it somewhat easier for the new owners to privately finance this stadium. It’s my understanding that an investo...

Are they seriously building a hard rock by the legends. That’s like the most boring place on earth
Not as boring as the place they're building it - south of 435.
You meant south of I-70, correct?

Those two are entirely new buildings. I watched them implode Paseo H.S. They also renovated a lot of existing buildings.

Don't want to be NIMBYish, but watching the trains from the patio at Grunauer is one of my favorite things. Hate to lose that to a parking structure.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

So it looks like they plan to run 7-8 at peak for 10-12 minute headways. Ideally they can run same on weekends as well at some point. If free bus occurs, at least there will be other options to get between Plaza/downtown, effectively increasing net headways. And 2024 seems optimistic. https://i.img...

Re: Companies moving/expanding to KC area

BCBS of KC covers 30 counties in MO but only JoCo and the Dot in Kansas so I would imagine they will be staying in MO. A move to KS would get a lot of pushback from BCBS of Kansas.

Re: Companies moving downtown

I wouldn't cry if they bulldozed their current building (or the one across the street). Neither of those buildings are great by any means, but i think 2 Pershing is the more egregious of the two. It has full-on suburban office park architecture and planning, being just a giant forbidding featureles...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

There are about 7 afternoon weekday games a year. Attendance is typically between 5-10k for those games. Any uptick in attendance would be from people already working downtown. Non issue. I doubt the IRS would open their garages, however, since those buildings are unoccupied during baseball season ...

Let's be more realistic:

135 parking spots at 2.5 people per car = 338 people
And how many residents will there be? Residents that will go to old settlers days and restaurants in that area. I'm guessing it will be more than 338.

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

Just doing some quick calc and it's about a mile to everything by foot. Boulevard Brewery, Jack Stack, East 31st, Linwood Plaza. About the same walk as Kauffman to Adams Mark. It would probably do more for Midtown than Downtown. Certainly would do a lot to bring them together. Kind of a hub point fo...
