Biggest takeaway I took from that was that the "Kansas City Monarchs" has already been registered by an unnamed party. Not the NBA.
Turns out that it was...(drum roll) the T-Bones.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Maybe I'm a little slow, but I'm not seeing what benefit is gained from removing the Town of Kansas ped bridge; extending the Riverfront Heritage trail to a hypothetical Buck Bridge connection gives you a scenic quarter-mile of railway/levee wall and a rock-strewn riverbank immediately on each side.

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

Google Fiber is dropping HBO from its lineup at the end of February.

Any guesses on how long it will be until we get the inevitable endgame of GFib's only 'TV' option being "if you want, here's a discount on YouTubeTV - enjoy!"? (Right now, I'm guessing by the end of 2022.)

It's adorable that you think anything will happen other than "butthurt smartphone warrior continues to be butthurt"; the best-case scenario is that he finally ragequits and sulks away to let everyone else clean up his final mess. In any case, I assume that articles of impeachment will be drawn up th...

No one's holding a gun to your head and making you read the comments, right? It must be sheer hell to have to read line after line of virtue signaling! While I realize that these people hold so much power on...Instagram and TikTok, just think how scary it would be if one of them became President of ...

Re: COVID-19 Casualties

Their FB post announcing the closure strongly alluded to years of landlord awfulness being the root cause. Even though I know the correct answer (retail landlords aren't generally known for their kind, generous souls and thinking about anything else beyond cashing this month's checks), I don't get w...

What the GOP should take away from this election: “Maybe...a multi-decade effort to pander the base into Crazytown wasn’t the brightest idea.” What the GOP will almost certainly take away from this election: “We were so close, so clearly all we need is another ‘populist’ who appeals to the base like...

Howard Hanna will be opening two restaurants there next year - a natural wine bar and a diner. This Feast article goes into a good amount of detail about both concepts.

Wait til the skateboarders see that concrete bench.
They can always adjust what doesn't work.
It's working...as far as the skateboarders are concerned; eleven people were either on boards or taking videos of other people doing things on boards when I ran past there earlier today.

The algorithm behind this particular bot apparently hasn't been updated since the late '90s and has failed to account for a) there are vanishingly small differences among regional/national chains and b) online shopping exists.

I really hope there's a pattern in the new terminal that becomes so beloved that I'll be able to buy a toilet cover with that pattern on it in 2040 or so.

My memories are a little fuzzy on this, but UP's railroad subsidiary was headquartered in Omaha that entire time in the 90s when the corporate parent's (much smaller) HQ was bouncing around the country. If there's any substance to that rumor (particularly if the railroad HQ were to relocate), it wil...
