Re: COVID19

It’s a shame there aren’t any examples from elsewhere that demonstrate how to handle a pandemic. A pity, even. We’ll never know what could have worked.

Or maybe there is a better Jackson to name it after.
FWIW, there is a precedent for that route.

Re: EV charging in condo garages

A sizeable fraction of downtown garages have EV chargers; based on this map, there's at least 50 charger locations in the greater downtown area, most of which are in garages.

The only public spot downtown I can think of offhand is on SW Blvd just east of Broadway, but I'm sure there are more.

Re: Taco John's expanding

It's Wyoming's contribution to America's vibrant fast-food landscape - how could you have missed hearing about it? :-)

Younger me had a soft spot for the caloric content per dollar provided by the Six Pack and a Pound combo, tho.

Re: beer.

BKS had been open Friday through Sunday (and the occasional Thursday) pre-pandemic, but those hours were still pretty limited when compared to other brewery taprooms.

Re: beer.

BKS is absolutely killing it lately with their New England IPA releases- I'd put them up against any brewery in the country that specializes in the style

Re: COVID & Carryout

We'll see how strong my willpower to avoid in-person social interaction turns out to be, but "when hospitals allow visitors again" seems like a good off-the-cuff estimation of qualitative risk. (Of course, the thought of "if only I lived alone, I'd try to find a foolproof way of contracting COVID-19...

Re: Condo Demand in Downtown

Is this a financing/developer issue or is there a real lack of demand? I believe it's the former; to the best of my knowledge (source: memories from a one-hour presentation I went to a year ago about condo buying put on by the DNA), lending requirements are higher on both the condo buyer and the ow...

Re: COVID-19 Casualties

It still did good business on event nights, but it had become noticeably less busy at other times. While all other Flying Saucer locations (other than the one inside DFW) are operated by their corporate parent, KC’s became a franchise operated by Cordish last fall. There are many more beer options f...

So far, we’ve ordered from the following locations: -Red Dragon House -Columbus Park Ramen Shop -Meshuggah -Pigwich (the day before Local Pig shut that part down) -Ravenous -Baramee (the day they reopened) -KC Taco Company Given that all of those places offered takeout in some capacity prior, it’s b...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I don't see Flying Saucer opening back up sadly. The staff at Flying Saucer was told today that it will not be reopening, so this has moved past the rumor stage. As someone who spent...way too much time there over the past decade, this hurts, but isn't terribly surprising. The writing was on the wa...

KCEB also mailed out Voter ID cards (they have an ID number! and a barcode!) about a month ago, so using a utility bill in this scenario is being willfully asinine.

Re: Next Mayor 2019

Both things can be true: - Voter ID is a thinly-veiled excuse for voter suppression to begin with, but as we're forced to show *something*, it might as well be the least-official form of ID. - Even if this wasn't an pre-planned political stunt, never underestimate Mayor Q's Spidey-Sense for milking ...

Where is the Pizza Hut/KFC?
I'm guessing that's a conflation of the Pizza Hut location on Broadway with the former Pizza Hut/KFC combo location on Petticoat.
