Re: Twincreeks updated site plan
Wish these suburban dollars flew downtown. The upside is the developments in the Northland are mostly all within 15 miles of downtown. Versus the Johnson County developments which are an hour from downtown and cater mostly to people who work in Johnson County thus promoting even less jobs and busin...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)
^ I’d guess that JOCO leaders would require funds go to their area too, like for the Deanna Rose Farmstead. They’re petty like that. They have every right to be "pretty like that." Any bi-state tax should benefit both states. As I recall, previous attempts have failed because the plan was to funnel...

Shoal Creek Valley Neighborhood Plan
Looks like they have plans to put in a bunch of residential in a large chunk of farmland bounded by Shoal Creek Parkway, Flintlock, 76th Street, and MO-152. http://maps.kcmo.org/kcgis/rest/services/external/DataLayers/FeatureServer/35/63816/attachments/27212 We live near that area and I've always wo...

Re: Housing Prices
I mean you wouldn't really want to leave God's Country for JoCo anyway, amiright :D Good call I say. My brother commutes from Briarcliff to Honeywell NNSA daily, 24 miles each way, so you're not alone. A big chunk of his commute time is river crossing and traffic around the downtown loop. A new Bro...

Housing Prices
We've been casually looking at houses in JoCo the last two years since I took a job in Corporate Woods. But I just couldn't get excited because everything seemed a lot more expensive than I was used to living in the Northland. Sure enough, it wasn't just my imagination. http://fox4kc.com/2018/03/07/...

Re: OFFICIAL: Zona Rosa (tenants & phase II)
Close enough. A couple blocks south. Still only a few minutes drive for most northlanders. Kind of like downtown If you figure from just north of the river Bayer is 3x farther away from the northland than downtown is. Bayer is about 25 blocks south of the river, downtown starts at the river. By thi...

Re: OFFICIAL: Zona Rosa (tenants & phase II)
Saw yesterday Zona Rosa is 59% vacant. Really good example to prove to cities to stop approving more retail before the supporting residential is built. How do you get people to move to the Northland when all the high paying jobs in KC are all within a couple miles of I-435 & I-35 in JoCo? I expect ...

Re: $30M MoDOT project to bring major improvements to congested Liberty interchange
It's a crazy design. And it won't fix the biggest problems, the stop lights on both sides of I-35. 100% this. They need a flyover that eliminates the lights while on 152. Before Flintlock there would be on/off ramps to get you on side streets down below to hit the retail and housing on the west sid...

Re: OFFICIAL: Zona Rosa (tenants & phase II)
I've lived in the Northland for 17 years now, but work in Corporate Woods. I've been close to sucking it up and moving to JoCo. Took me almost 4 years, finally got a job downtown again. Amazing how much my commute from daycare to work being <15 minutes makes my day better. You can't pay me enough t...

Re: Former Children's Palace Toy Store
Where is this?
Didn't Children's Palace go out of business back in the early 90's? If so, that is pretty bad the space couldn't be leased for 20+ years.

Re: Metro North Mall
A "top golf" type of driving range will be part of the development! Is there really a market for two of those so close together? There's already one going in at I-35 & 210. Seems like a bad idea, maybe after the development to the north of Metro Mall takes off it might make more sense. Personally b...

Re: New Restaurants/Other Businesses in Northland
Not sure what is going on with all the chicken places, but earlier this year Zaxby's opened up at 291 & Church Rd, and I see in the Liberty Commons shopping center a new chicken place called Slim Chickens. And now it appears at the corner of 291 & 152 is a Raising Cane's chicken place being built.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
I was surprised as well. All the unofficial polling I'd seen showed a split decision. So I was expecting something like 52 to 48 or 48 to 52 as a result.FangKC wrote:I must admit I'm surprised that it passed by such a larger majority. I was worried it would fail, and nothing would happen for another 20 years.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
I did my part and voted yes for the airport. There were only three items on my ballot, the airport and two parks & recs questions asking for land to be removed from two parks. So the polling place wasn't all that busy. I was able to just walk up and 15 seconds later fill out my ballot and I was out ...
