That's super weird, NEgoofyfoot. I have no idea why they would do that.

Fun how they get to define who the "gentrifiers" are

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?

Bunch is now on record as supporting the Katz redevelopment. And KC Tenants is still playing the victim like the big bad church did it out of spite.
The KCUR article also claimed the church bought it in 2019. They did not. They bought it in 2011 I believe.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Was on the plaza Friday night. All the talk of being dead is absolutely ridiculous there were lots of people out. I certainly get echoes of the "no one goes there anymore, it's too crowded" when people talk about certain areas of KC "dying" or "declining" or whatever.

The former parking lot is now completely dug out. I'm guessing foundation work is coming soon.

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?

And now the Star is reporting KC Tenants' Google Doc survey where people self-reported their rent (and other housing costs) as fact. https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/a ... 13831.html

Re: Westport

Does anyone know if Transit Coffee at Westport and Main survived the streetcar construction? There's paper on the windows now...

I've heard a lot of rumblings like that about every fire for the past few months. Sad, really.

Oil and gas money from Wichita. They own a large amount of undeveloped land down here.
Am I weirdly cynical for being 1. grumpy it's not local money but 2. happy it's not coastal money?

Someone more knowledgeable than me probably knows the answer to this: is there any incentives for local businesses on the Plaza? Reduced rent or anything like that?

IIRC the interior needed a TON of work. And they only recently installed that construction office trailer thing in the parking lot, which I assume means things are ramping up.

If the announcement is positive, I imagine a subglutal-fire situation regarding the streetcar and other perpetual projects around downtown/Midtown.

Like many other city officials, scared of the blowback from speaking out even slightly against KC Tenants and their methods.
