Re: Widening I-70

A lot of Chicago bound use Hwy 36 from Cameron to Hannibal and pick up I-72 in Illinois. Less traffic and fewer large towns(and no St. Louis).

The St. Louis wheel is 200'. Liberty Memorial tower is 200'. It is 100' in elevation from Union Station plaza to the deck at LM.

A 500 unit apartment building on that site would be at least 30 floors.

I dunno about "Ornithology." I get the birds, but at some angle the sax clusters look like the Alien thing that burst out of peoples chests.

Re: Lighting up KC's skyscrapers

Kudos to the downtown lighting coordinator. The new BCBS/Waddell and Reed illuminated interior and exterior, and for the first time in modern history, the crown of the Jax Co courthouse in kinetic illumination. Loew's needs to do something with lighting, especially given its prominence.

The balcony issue cannot be liability unless it is due to maintenance issues. The balconies are designed to be functional and were.

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Have been in the new bank twice. Both times they were having computer problems, blaming it once on the construction across the street and the other time on the overhead high voltage lines. Off hours you need debit card to get into vestibules where the ATMs are.

Wrong. No DT view when driving unless you have x ray vision to see through the new north bound span that is higher than the southbound.

Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge

There will not be any DT views from the flyovers, for those that were hoping for that. The northbound bridge and approaches are the higher of the two spans. Any views of DT from the southbound will be blocked by the higher northbound.

The wrappings are off the exterior of the west building and the result is....something that could be on any perimeter freeway in any city in the USA.

The view point will only be slightly different than that of the Liberty Memorial tower. Would have liked somewhere with a completely different vantage.

Skywalks not going away. They are a major factor in the Crown Center hotels winter business. There are quite a few regional groups that use the hotels and exhibit space in January and February for the winter rates and chose over other locations because they can bring spouses and kids to have lots of...

The east side apartments will have some of the best DT KCMO views in town. It looks like less damage was done to the underlying facade than was done to the old SW Bell/Oak Tower. So much was lost around 1970 when KCK tried to "modernize" its business district. Two gracious old residential ...

No way will 12th Street be shut down on game days or even given a road diet. Not with the police HQ there. Not only do they want access, they use 12th to double and triple park. If ball park goes to EV I would like to see 11th as the street to concentrate on. Make it a ped street, interrupted only b...
