Re: Companies moving downtown

I will miss that rocky limestone outcrop on the SW corner of the block looming over Truman north. It reminds me of the Tarpeian Rock on the Capitoline Hill in Rome.

Re: Companies moving downtown

Since it has sat vacant since before this century most surely this means something other than a surface parking lot. What about the small building with the garage to the west?

Re: Chouteau Parkway Transformation to Begin in 2012

Ground broken for Francois Chouteau Native American fountain near intersection with Parvin. Will have simulated limestone bluff with waterfall, pools and multiple bronze figures. Nice bauble for a not upscale part of town.

Or further south. Row houses are probably the only thing that will fit in that awkward land on the west side of McGee carved from the flank of the cemetery.

Covering off building at 31st and Oak. Sadly, no Vitrolite. Just an ugly dirty brick mess.

Re: Hospital Hill activity

They are adding two floors to the current clinic building..Wonder if why they are going ahead on this is because of the cranes already in place can be used for its construction. Rather than go back and put of 2 new cranes in the middle of an occupied area with restricted space.

Re: Hospital Hill activity

Columns going up on roof of building immediately to the south of the new tower. Is this the beginning of phase 4(a vertical addition), skipping over phases 2 and 3?

There was a proposal to put a Hilton 800-1000 room on that lot in the early nineties.

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

When I was there it was not good food and was very dirty. I hate eating while trying to fend off flies. Why could they not just eat from the uncleared tables?

Re: OFFICIAL - The Gallerie (27th & Gillham)

Landscaping has been completed. On Gillham the building setback makes possible a double row of trees, like a classic European boulevard. Maple and elm between the sidewalk and street, between sidewalk and bldng are oak and others. No grass between sidewalk and street. This and other areas where one ...

That lot is earmarked for the expansion of Ability, the rehabilitation clinic, with their new entrance being there instead of the present entrance on Baltimore facing the decaying hospital shell.

Those parking instructions are either dated or incorrect or both. There is rarely anyone at the booth and the gate has not been down in years. Unless handicapped, patients and visitors are directed to walk around the east side of the building to the front entrance where one will often encounter peop...

Would think new W&R would have larger footprint than old IBM. Those floorplates cannot be very large and then stuff in a core with elevators for 17 floors office(office buildings have more elevator per floor than residential). Maybe something trapezoidal to fit then entire lot from Wyandotte to Balt...

Was taken aback coming northbound on Wornall cresting the hill south of Ward Pkwy. This is the tallest thing on the north side of the Plaza. Does this mean they can go a bit taller when something goes in the vacant lot on the north side of 46th Terrace?

Re: Hospital Hill activity

Patients are people with medical needs. Dental patients tend to be older, as healthy people under 40 or 50 usually have not developed many severe dental or tooth loss problems. Humans used to not live much over 40 and teeth seem to not want to last much more than that. There are lots of elderly goin...
