Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

Baltimore will be closed (again) for a very long time? With Waddell Reed and Strata (not to mention the Loews hotel), it's will be the premier street in KC's urban core. A lot of density going in there. Wish some of that could wind up on Grand. The strata car hole will face Baltimore but the lobby ...

Re: Stock Hill on the Plaza

Bread and Butter Concpets filled for Bankruptcy but plan to stay open. I am not really that suprised, they haven't really done anything to wow me as a customer, they basically just followed trends in food and never really stood out. Maybe Bread and Butter focused too much on already established and...

Re: Companies moving/expanding to KC area

Is DT now starting a corporate relocation boom? W&R and USDA just announced and I’m hearing a few others that are considering making the move while incentives are still intact and locations are still prevalent. Here we go! The critical thing now will be to keep BC/BS in downtown, facilitated perhap...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

I don't mind it. I surprised myself, however, by liking the glass side much better than the side with the yellow native limestone. The reflections of the P&L building on the glass wall are nice. In the renderings, I thought the limestone side would be the better side but it looks oddly industrial, e...

One would hope. However even stop lights are completely effective because even in a green light, cars might not be able to stop in time if some kid runs in front of them in the crosswalk. Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

Give it about 12 more hours. 12 hours to blow up or die down? It's not really an issue. In any event, Trump generates something new, exciting and colossally stupid on a daily basis that guarantees that extremely trivial things like KC not having a street named after MLK will quickly fall out of the...

Much different than I expected. They are basically just keeping the facade in what will be an overall much smaller building? Will there be an accompanying surface lot? Seems like they've created empty space on the former Lyric site.

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Something like this would go very nicely in Riverfront Park. This is near downtown OKC. Takes a popular form of sport entertainment one can normally only get in fairly remote mountainous areas and brings it downtown.

Be nice if Los Tules could find a home in the new development. That would also serve to provide a little street interaction for a project that looks to occupy potentially 2 blocks of Broadway.

I don't think H-E-B is outside Texas at all, are they? And mostly south Texas? Maybe northern Mexico?
Only TX and Northeast Mexico. Not sure about distribution in Texas. There are none in the DFW area or El Paso but present in Austin, Houston and San Antonio.

Re: Companies moving downtown

Yea, none of those cities compare to KC. Maybe Philly with Delaware (Jersey is not really much of a threat). Wilmington has gone after a lot of Philly banking firms etc. But that damage is minimal since Philly has so many other companies still in the city, namely Comacast. Kansas basically emptied ...

Lots of cities have interstate competition where the downtown is close to the same distance away from a different state For example, St. Louis, MO Omaha, NE Memphis, TN Louisville, KY Cincinnati, OH Savannah, GA Chatanooga, TN Phil...

Re: KU-MU rivalry reborn?

I honestly haven't heard KU fans calling for the basketball game to come back, so maybe I'm unplugged from the vast majority. As for football, that one limits your scheduling options a lot more. Basketball games can be thrown on the calendar at will, but football games are harder to schedule in the...

Re: Companies moving downtown

I think it's great news for downtown regardless of how disappointing some are by the modest proposed height. Opportunities to get 1000 well paid workers downtown are few and far between. This project also creates motivation for some of W&R employees to move downtown with their jobs. As critical mass...

Re: Ward Parkway Center

I spend a lot time in Austin. I don't go to Torchy's all that much because it's always packed and the one by the University is pretty small and packed but their food is very good. Folks in KC will love it. Austin has a very good Mexican/Tex-Mex scene. Some of the best of that genre. I was just in Tu...
