Re: Politics

With a pretty good chance the White House admin as well as Senate/House going all DEM after election, we'll probably see a rush for approvals that only GOP would comply with before election. IE, Charter/Spectrum asks FCC to drop restrictions on data caps before election. No caps was a condition wit...

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between

With low interest rates and the expectation for a sharp recovery... It might be a good time. KC-land was well behaved in this latest round of insanity. Good. I wish CC would take the steps to somehow integrate the southern part of CC (the stand alone buildings) with Union Hill and the new apartment...

That demographic would be angry old people that scream “socialism” in one breath & then scream “keep your hands off my Medicare & SOCIAL Security”. If they really don’t want to participate in socialism they should refrain from using those programs along with using the police, firefighters, governme...

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

Is the pre-existing building on the far right going to be apartments? I seem to remember a lower rise steel structure behind the older builder that was under construction when I was in town last, wonder what they had in mind for that? This place is impressive in terms of size, you don't get that sen...

Re: COVID19

The polls are eerily similar to 2016, so it looks to be another close one. I wonder if Trump does win again, if his massive ego would lead him to be more of a centrist? His ego wants him to go down in history as something special and once he doesn't need to placate to the right, I could see him doi...

Re: COVID19

I think it's hilarious that kids on TikTok wrecked the rally but it's not like it was a significant blow to Trump or his campaign. We all know, just like sports it's really all about the TV ratings and online viewership. He still had at minimum 12 million people watch the rally. That's where you pi...

Be interesting to see whether Trump's stupid Tulsa rally causes a significant spike there in the coming days. I’m not sure if enough people went It was the worst of all worlds for Trump, he looked bad taking the chance to increase the spread CV19 among one of his staunchest states and he looked bad...

Re: OFFICIAL - Grand Place (former KC Star building)

What's the ultimate concept for this place? All along, I've envisioned a KC version of the Ferry Building in San Francisco.

That would be a worthwhile goal.

Re: Memorializing Racists

I find it incredible that we have military bases named after Confederate military leaders in the United States. What's more amazing is that some of these military bases are named after rather mediocre military leaders (e.g., Braxton Bragg and George Pickett), and in one case, probably the most inep...

Re: Memorializing Racists

While the only confederate monument that I know of in KC has been removed, there is sentiment to remove all memorials and street names of historical personages with racist attitudes. The JC Nichols name is most often bandied about. The Nichols Pkwy probably could go, but Nichols Road? The Nichols f...

Re: Politics

Michael Steele said on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight that the White House's internal polling is showing that Trump is starting to lose support among GOP voters. Everything in this election will depend on black voters. If black citizens vote in large numbers, Trump is toast. Hillary lost in 2016...

According to BLS, KC metro actually took a bigger % hit than Houston in April office jobs compared to a year earlier. Take a look at the more office related job categories... KC metro lost a higher % than Houston . May is expected to be worse than April for office jobs (possibly worse for Houston t...

Added Jacobson to the list. Gotten independent confirmation that the Parkway restaurant people bought it up and are renovating it. There is definitely a lot of work going on at the site.
Damn. I enjoyed Jacobson.

Things are going to get worse with office industry before getting better. Next wave of employment hits are expected to be office jobs through summer, which May job data is expected to show later this month. Compound that with some companies planning more working from home permanently. Some industri...

I heard the second iteration of Plaza III has closed permanently. Given their waning popularity on the Plaza, I suspect this may have happened with or without CV19.
