A Grain Valley resident told me Grain Valley is getting a White Castle. But I haven't been able to confirm that anywhere.
Put Mgsports on it. You'll get your confirmation.

Re: Companies moving downtown

Little surprise that the KC Star is pissing all over the Waddel Reed incentives. An empty lot with a vacant building cannot be making that much of a contribution to the KC tax base.

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village

It’s always talked about how stadiums bring restaurants and bars and increased traffic. I’m not so sure that’s the direct case. Stadiums increase transit options. Transit options increase traffic. So, a DT stadium is most exciting to me because it likely increases rail and other transit options to ...

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants

Personally would like to see fewer corporate restaurants (including B&B Concepts (rather sterile food)) and more variety of small eats, local counter eats, obscure ethnic eats, quainter small neighborhood restaurants that could still be destination, etc. Is B&B really all that corporate? They have ...

Re: Three Light

Makes sense. So is the indentation on the west side of the Yard House block part of the plan for the construction of Strata. Is that an elevator shaft just to the west of that?

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants

From the Star, it sounds like several restaurants are about to join this list: https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article237831274.html The reasons given; overbuilding of restaurants, labor shortages etc... seem to be national phenomena and not necessarily limited t...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

With Two Light, Loews, Three Light and Waddell Reed, I-670 which is already in a trench, is going to seem like it's traversing a substantial urban canyon. That's going to be an impressive part of DT KC. Also, how come every picture I've seen on the Rag of KC in the last 6 months has dismal looking g...

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village

Well, from a tax perspective, it's not rearranging the deck chairs. The KC metro is divided by two states, the wealthiest part of the metro is in a state that doesn't contain KC's urban/cultural core and hence contribute very little to core's well being. So any time you can entice that population t...

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village

... The other question I'd pose is will this create tax revenue for the City, or another tax hole downtown? It would seem to me that the office/apartment mix would produce more revenue for the City in the long-term, and yes, we do need to be concerned about that too. 20,000 people coming downtown 8...

Re: Three Light

I really hope this building includes a sizable architectural lighting budget. It needs to at least replace the HR Block lights that are going to be blocked. Hopefully it features something even grander. One and Two Light have no sort of stand out lighting feature. That is the one aspect of the loca...

Re: Hard rock

Will this be a Hotel plus Casino? If so, what has happened to the existing casino at the Legends? Are Hard Rock hotels typically suburban? I know the one that collapsed in New Orleans was not. It's not a place I would ever visit in the first place but it seems they are a bit behind the times with re...

There is no way to know the traffic impacts of removing interstate exit ramps at the same time you are cutting off three city through streets (Holmes, Charlotte, 11th). Yes, you can reroute traffic to other exits, but then through streets are also being blocked, so do you then create traffic bottle...

Re: OFFICIAL - Grand Place (former KC Star building)

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. That last picture really illustrates the impact that the Two Light and Three Light (as I understand it to be built as a companion structure just west of the Two Light Apartment) will have on the skyline. From ground level, that's going to be quite a visual wall fo...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

Baltimore will be closed (again) for a very long time? With Waddell Reed and Strata (not to mention the Loews hotel), it's will be the premier street in KC's urban core. A lot of density going in there. Wish some of that could wind up on Grand. The strata car hole will face Baltimore but the lobby ...

Re: Stock Hill on the Plaza

Bread and Butter Concpets filled for Bankruptcy but plan to stay open. I am not really that suprised, they haven't really done anything to wow me as a customer, they basically just followed trends in food and never really stood out. Maybe Bread and Butter focused too much on already established and...

Re: Companies moving/expanding to KC area

Is DT now starting a corporate relocation boom? W&R and USDA just announced and I’m hearing a few others that are considering making the move while incentives are still intact and locations are still prevalent. Here we go! The critical thing now will be to keep BC/BS in downtown, facilitated perhap...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

I don't mind it. I surprised myself, however, by liking the glass side much better than the side with the yellow native limestone. The reflections of the P&L building on the glass wall are nice. In the renderings, I thought the limestone side would be the better side but it looks oddly industrial, e...

One would hope. However even stop lights are completely effective because even in a green light, cars might not be able to stop in time if some kid runs in front of them in the crosswalk.
