Pleasant Valley Road Interchange

From the Pleasant Valley Flyer: "The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open-house style public hearing to discuss design of improvements to the I-35 and Pleasant Valley Road interchange. The briefing will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26th from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley ...

Re: Whitehall Station at Liberty

The I-35/Pleasant Valley Road interchange is scheduled to be totally reconfigured beginning next year. It's going out to bid in July 2014 with construction starting in September 2014. I have seen about half a dozen plans, but the last one I saw on Tuesday that was supposed to be a final plan was not...

Bonefish Grill in Liberty?

Just had someone tell me today that the Bank of America (on Stewart Road), the Liberty Hospital Rehab building and the other one in between them are going to be torn down. In their place will be a Bonefish Grill and another restaurant. The last time I went past the old BOA at 291 & Withers Road,...

Re: Liberty Triangle

The 152 bridge over I-35 carries an estimated 30,000 vehicles a day. For comparison, the Broadway Bridge carries an estimated 35,000 vehicles a day. No amount of signal sequencing is is going to help along 152 between I-35 & 291. I've already asked MoDOT if a Diverging Diamond Interchange would ...

Re: NKC bus service

That's correct. I thought it might be used again when the Broadway Extension was shut down, but was told the traffic counts probably wouldn't (and apparently didn't) require it.

Re: Liberty Triangle

Will give Pizza Ranch a try. Went to one in Minnesota summer of 2011 and was not very impressed, BUT did not catch it during a lunch or dinner rush. Must try it fresh to formulate a better opinion.

Re: Liberty Triangle

The Flintlock Flyover will have only two lanes, but will be able to eventually be expanded out to four lanes. Traffic at 152 & I-35 will get worse next year when the new 291 bridge over I-35 is being constructed. Since the TIGER funds didn't come through, it will probably be at least another two...

Re: Liberty Triangle

I recently heard the Discount Tires and Pizza Ranch are going in next to Texas Roadhouse. Was also able to confirm that a Hy-Vee gas convenience store will be going in along 291, next to Dick's Sports.

Re: Thailand Suggestions?

I went to the Rose Garden and Thai Cultural Show when I was there 6 years ago. Great perspective on the Thai people.

If you try to pick up even a couple of Thai words/phrases (Hello & Thank You), they seem to be very appreciative of the effort.

Re: OFFICIAL: Antioch Crossing

I'd love a Costco up north. Sam's is ok, but it's no Costco. They should of put the Costco next to Lowe's on N. Oak. We got an Office Max instead. I talked to someone from Costco last year and they were fairly emphatic that they weren't even remotely considering placing a location in the Northland.

Re: MARC distributes $95 million for transportation projects

tnorthlander, do you mean the nw 96th (not 95th) street interchange on us 169?  and does the diagram you provided apply to that interchange?  any grade separation at all is premature at that intersection, but the northland council members insisted on it. Yes (my mistake), the at-grade intersection ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

i think by "storefront" he's implying more an urban convenience store rather than a "Gas station". I've never seen Quik Trip do that model, but it makes me think of the 7-11s that litter Chicago and most other big cities. QT used to have one in downtown KC on 11th just west of G...

The Wheel Cyclery is moving

The Wheel Cycler is moving a mile north of their current location at 5126 NE Antioch Rd to the space formerly occupied by Hollywood Video in the Prospect Plaza shopping center at 6430 N. Prospect, Gladstone MO 64118 (in the same building as Starbucks). It's a much larger location and will give them ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Antioch Center

I was by there earlier today and there's no fencing up yet. I'll grab some pics when they start tearing it down.

Also, there was an excavator in the parking lot of the former Amoco/Standard station across the street. Guess they're getting ready to pull the old tanks out of the ground.

Found out they're just waiting for the weather to warm up. Supposedly you can't pour concrete in this weather (tho they did along the kcICON project last winter).

kcICON Survey

Feel free to post your comments. I think they did a great job with the entire project. I only have two gripes. #1 - I think the left hand Paseo Blvd exit ramp is one most people will mention. It's on the left (duh) and narrow. #2 - The bridge over the RR tracks between Bedford & 16th Avenue. Thi...
