Re: NE Side
What I'm saying is, the sense of European nationhood has been built on an idea of homogeneity, an idea that a clear and uniform culture must be established to distinguish the nation from its neighbors. It is a crucial idea of sovereignty that simply does not exist in America - and it has led to prob...

Re: NE Side
Nice anecdotes. Make sure to call the European countries where failure / refusal to integrate has been problematic, and tell them they're just doing it wrong . You're confusing different things here. European and US immigrant communities aren't really analogous. The so-called integration problems i...

Re: 2012 Election
Gail Collins' response to Trump on Friday is amusing in just about every way. Although Trump and I have had our differences in the past, I never felt it was personal. In fact, until now, I have refrained from noting that I once got an aggrieved message from him in which he misspelled the word “too.”...

I'll just leave this here, with its accompanying article. http://wonkette.com/441386/g-e-so-good-at-evading-corporate-taxes-that-irs-owes-g-e-3-2-billion#more-441386 In a regulatory filing just a week before the Japanese disaster put a spotlight on the company’s nuclear reactor business, G.E. report...

This is long, but worthwhile reading. http://davidharvey.org/media/Harvey_on_the_Commons.pdf "The real problem here, it seems to me, is not the commons per se. It is the failure of individualized private property rights to fulfill our common interests in the way they are supposed to do."

The corporate tax rate is 35%, but few corporations actually pay that amount. The article I posted referred to Buffett's infamous quote that BH probably paid in the range of 18%.

You need to go beyond the first results that Google returns to you. It's a research tool, not an end. Here's a secondary result which I found beneath the source you provided, contradicting the evidence found in your source. http://www.news-record.com/content/2010/10/22/article/poll_americans_split_o...

What is this majority you are referring to? Cite your sources.
Also those first two paragraphs make you look like a lunatic. If you want to win arguments, that's a poor way to go about it.
