Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom
I've enjoyed watching this go up. It has great views of Gillham Park as well. Wish we could copy and paste this into more vacant lots around midtown.

https://cityscenekc.com/mayor-likely-plaza-owners-want-housing-better-security-and-diverse-retail/ Something I found interesting in the article: "The prospective owners also don’t support converting streets to pedestrian-only corridors" "The prospective new owners envision a “European...

Re: Bike Lanes
I noticed crews painted the bike lane lines on West Gillham down to where it turns back into regular Gillham yesterday. Really nice to see this project finally coming together.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
This is hilarious. Why would Jackson County pay taxes for a stadium in Clay county? Clay county doesn't pay taxes for the current stadiums and wouldn't pay for a new stadium in EV.

Re: Capping the Loop
The decision was made before the meeting lol. People involved were told it was going to be walnut so it leaked pretty quickly. Walnut being closed as part of this park must be the worst kept secret over the last decade considering it's been discussed to death on this forum for 5 years or more at mi...

Re: OFFICIAL - Grand Place (former KC Star building)
Why has this project taken SO LONG!?!? Feels like they've been piddling with this building for a decade. Finish it up already. It's weird that this is the same firm that is developing Pennway Point and that project is moving along much faster than this one that's been "in progress" for at...

The closed slip-lane at 25th and Gillham could be going away for additional green space... The Health Sciences CID is interested in working with the City to make Improvements to the intersection at 25th and Gillham. This is a permanently closed slip lane closed with temporary looking barriers. The ...

Rebrand on city website to "Personal Mobility Lanes" https://www.kcmo.gov/city-hall/departments/public-works/bike-kc-building-a-bicycle-friendly-community Page definitely still a work in progress. So don't think this link is accessible from the page above however, it is on the site naviga...

Construction fences have been put up for the Levy project at 31st and Gillham. Good to see this taking the first visible step of progress.

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point
I can't imagine any family walking the current infrastructure between US and Pennway Point. I walk this area every morning and it's pretty hostile. I rarely see anyone else, unless they're waiting for the bus. An intervention is necessary on Pershing and West Pennway! I was just thinking about this...

Re: Fast Food Options
Given how quickly they are expanding, I'm surprised Hawaiian Bros hasn't tried out a downtown location. I feel like that would make a killing in the former Whopper bar spot and is a great combo of a local restaurant with a unique offering.

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham
Looks like the Levy was pushed back again. Developer's site now reports April 2023 construction start and June 2024 completion. Maybe demolition could still start by January? https://www.garrisoncompanies.com/project/levy-at-martini-corner/ Anyone heard any updates on this project? The existing pro...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
I can't remember what year it was but one First Friday they blocked off Wyandotte between Southwest Boulevard and 17th. They had lots of food vendor and drink vendors, street performers, artists, and a stage with various bands playing throughout the night. That was peak First Fridays for me. I've ne...

Re: Capping the Loop
I can see good things about either closure, but I think the project needs to include significant improvements and traffic calming to all of the streets around it so it feels safe and easy for pedestrians to walk there and not feel surrounded by speeding cars. This is especially true for Truman Road...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.
Those are some great pictures. I drive by this project every day and it has been great to see the progress they are making. Really hoping all of the ground floor retail spaces fill up quickly. It would be a easy way to demonstrate their contribution to the neighborhood.

Re: Bike Lanes
Thanks for the info everyone. The unprotected bike lane is scary at best on Cleaver right now. It would be nice to have the ability to bike in a protected lane right into the plaza and to the new streetcar stop at 47th and Main.

Re: Bike Lanes
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question so someone please point me in the right direction if it isn't. I saw that the city is repaving Cleaver/47th this week. Do we know if there are any plans to add protected bike lanes on this road? The road is so wide already it could lose ...

Re: Troost developments
It's nice to see these vacant lots get houses built on them. I'm really hoping to see some more development going on at the intersection of Troost and Cleaver. The Walgreens on the Northwest corner closed and the former Burger King across the street has been sitting vacant for a while now too. I won...

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)
Two questions about the status of this project: 1. Why can't the city do something with the two surface parking lots across the street from this site at the same time? Seems like a good opportunity to develop at least one other site to make up for the lost parking of this project. 2. Why haven't we ...

Re: KC gets decent share of touring shows
On top of the Buzz disappearing, the stranglehold that AEG (aka AXS) has on T-Mobile Center, KC Live!, Midland and The Truman really screws us with LiveNation/TicketMaster shows. Basically, we're shut out of any show above a certain size unless they go to Grinders, Starlight or Uptown and two of th...
