Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Love these renderings and I'm totally on board with this location now. Grand and Truman are the perfect gateway for the stadium. This will make Grand great again! This is real critical mass and finally we see how this ties in so well with PnL, the streetcar and 18th Street. And I see this location e...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I had high hopes for EV. But as an after thought that area is too isolated for expensive (high-rise high-rent) development. And MODOT was never going to do anything with the east loop. They are worthless. EV is hopelessly juxtaposed for medium to low density. A stadium there is fine but I couldn't s...

Re: Is the Streetcar Extension bringing new development as promised?

I try to keep track of all the projects going on from 31st to the River and here's what I have for the last couple of years. Even after the original streetcar was announced, development didn't really pick up immediately. It was in those next couple of years after it was done when it really got goin...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The news that came out yesterday about the Dunn family informs me that the stadium will go in the East Village. The East Crossroads gossip is the perfect camouflage to assist in acquiring the remaining EV parcels. You heard it here first.

Is the Streetcar Extension bringing new development as promised?

Is the Streetcar Extension bringing new development as promised?

Has anyone created a development map along the line showing what's planned with the # of residential units and $$ totals to evaluate? I'm very disappointed so far. What do others think?

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

I just went to youtube and looked about about two dozen videos of downtown KC and most of the top comments are, it's a nice and quiet looking city, but... "where are the people?", "why is it so dead?", "does anybody live there?" "it looks like a ghost town". ...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

But KC feels like a very "empty" city for a large city most of the time. That's just how the city is. It has small pockets of activity, but for the most part, it's just not a very busy city and the same goes for the parks etc. Agree. Grid's assessments are pretty accurate. First Fridays f...

This guy came to the same conclusion when videoing the NY Life Building.
Pretty fascinating. If you love the NY Life Building you will love this video.

^ nice AI generated image of the KC skyline. Sucks, since this will be a way to get around paying photographers. Why you would use such a blatantly fake photo of a city in marketing material is beyond me though. https://as1.ftcdn.net/v2/jpg/06/48/63/90/1000_F_648639076_FfgvL1FNuxfIaRT9oLCVZZGnuAUOG...

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point

No need to put in another sun baked lawn that would die for lack of water and heavy foot traffic. Just consider the space as a piazza and replace asphalt with granite pavers. The plaza in front of Veronas train station is one I’ve often used to cite what US should do with that front parking lot I c...

Re: 18th and Vine

This District is not being developed or ran properly, that's why there's is no real momentum 25 years later. Everything built is in disparate lots strung around haphazardly around the area with no cohesion so there's still no critical mass. Instead of a critical mass of infill mix fronting 18th that...

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point

you know there is a parking garage under the city hall plaza right? Union station also has parking garage below that surface lot so they are actually very similar. WTF are you talking about? So what if both have a garage underneath. They are not similar, US has an ugly surface parking lot right in ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point

If Union Station was willing to give up the parking fronting the building, they could extend Washington Park further West. That parking lot in front of US is the dumbest parking lot in the city. It's as bad as if they tore out the front of City Hall and put in a surface lot. But people will make ev...

Re: OFFICIAL - The Continental Apartments (former Mark Twain Tower)

I grew up in the KCAC. Probably started first going down in the late 60s while my dad played handball. We used to get Italian sausage sandwiches at the Red Front on the way home, maybe go to the Wonderland Arcade sometimes. In the 60s and 70s, the majority of the TV All Star wrestlers worked out at...

Re: Kansas City Needs a Proper Christmas Market

I think the combination of Crown Center and Union Station together is unbeatable in getting one into the Christmas Spirit. If an open market like space is required Washington Square Park would be the perfect outdoor setting for that. It's all on the streetcar, connected by indoor walkways and has in...

Based on that info, they moved to hold until Jan 9 meeting but got push back from Jeffery Williams at the City (and a TIF commissioner) for potentially causing issues with financing going into a new calendar year. In a split vote, 4-3, the board voted to hold until Jan 9 instead having on Dec 12 me...
