Re: Bike Lanes

Honest question. How do you bicycle folks get your way so often? I have eyes on our downtown bike lanes often and rarely see them in use. I have seen more use than ever before recently after Grand got done. They got the delineators installed today btw. Whatever tactics you all use to get things don...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

100% with you. I want surface lots downtown filled. So why tear down active buildings to make that happen? Seems like the quickest path to the goal would be to build something on the sea of lots in EV. Crossroads will fill in. Maybe not as quickly as you or I would hope for. But there is momentum P...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Seriously. Go to Parlor, Mean Mule, Chartreuse Saloon or Paradise Garden Club if that's more your thing. Developments are happening on the east side of the crossroads. Even in and around the area that has been mentioned for the stadium. DCole I think I see where you're coming from and I think it's ...

Surrounded by low rise & synergy...like this?

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I still don’t see how the Crossroads east of Main, or especially east of Grand, is growing or thriving more than a trickle. All the new developments and energy is happening in the west side. East side is littered with surface lots and no plans to change it.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

You can't recreate Wrigleyville even with an unlimited budget in any city. Again, North Loop offers a location surrounded by old, historic buildings that would make it feel surrounded and not isolated. Tear down the FlashCube building and two other buildings and you're good to go. It would also spe...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

I care more about infill and density. I also don't need some beautiful streetscape around the stadium to be 100% there the same day the ballpark opens. I have, consistently, on this forum pounded the table to get more infill over big towers. So don't put me in that camp. We don't need a Wrigleyvill...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

"East Crossroads" is kind of hiding the ball as to what people are really advocating for. Y'all want the stadium to come right up to Grand right? That's just the Crossroads. East Crossroads is east of Oak, at least IMO. The streetscape around EV is just so horrifically bad. Imagine they p...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

The Royals district should focus on low-rise residential and retail with a few sports bars mixed in. If it goes in EV the bars will likely be dead on non-game days. “Low-rise” like Light 1-3? No, those would be high-rise buildings unless you disagree with IBC definition. I'm not saying the Royals s...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Do we really need a Royals entertainment district, Chiefs entertainment district & Power Light district?

Why do we need that many entertainment districts? It feels like something's gotta give. That's way too much and KC will spread itself too thin.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

We are so much better than so many of our peers in downtown development. The one thing that KC gets its ass kicked on compared to its peers is sports venues- Sporting, Chiefs, Royals Idk why this is the one big piece Kansas City cannot seem to come around on compared to the peers when we do most eve...

Re: Three Light

Found these quotes interesting After billions of dollars in investment, downtown KC now welcomes over 10 million visitors a year. Twenty years ago, that number was just 225,000. “We have 60 percent of the people — six, zero — that are moving into our buildings are actually coming from out of the mar...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Cincinnati, Indy, Denver, Minneapolis, pretty much everyone better or worse than KC gets to have this- but not Kansas City. Because 'endless parking garages' that every peer seems to deal fine with. Because the TSC is just such a gem that's so much better than this... https://twitter.com/Bengals/sta...

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

The problem is we need incentives to make it happen and some people lose their minds over that.

I know alot of people don’t like Hotel Bravo but I wish we had it.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

So many other good quality cities have put NFL stadiums near the downtowns. There’s literally no benefit to TSC over the downtown area. It will remain surface lots and decay forever or a stadium can go there and look amazing.

I just don't see the appeal of building new at the TSC when you could re-build outside downtown.

This guy did a brilliant map of how they can pedestrianize the Plaza. It preserves parking and maximizes walking! Check it out

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

I can't believe anybody on this forum would support an NFL stadium anywhere near downtown. The sweet spot is right on the outskirts of downtown like Denver, Seattle, Minneapolis have right now. That’s where we need to go with it. Those cities all have extensive regional transit systems with direct ...

I think a big point of interest we need to consider if getting MCC connected on the route- which they can do close enough with Broadway. Then you have two schools on streetcar at that point.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Its the American suburban mentality. Its all about your car, how far you need to travel and where you can park, a misplaced fear of crime. The masses don't care about the bigger picture. Where I live just now in the UK would be classed as a provincial city, and it is not without its problems in the...
