Re: Meet up following E-W SC meeting Tuesday, Oct 4th?

I was at the meeting at the beginning, popped home for a minute. If you still want to grab a beer Anthony/Chris/Anyone else post here I’ll come out for it.

I'll be at the meeting, certainly down for a beer afterwards.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I've heard the "land banked for the Royals" theory as well and while it's partly true I suspect a lot would hold back development in EV even if the Royals announced another stadium site.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

100% with you. I want surface lots downtown filled. So why tear down active buildings to make that happen? Seems like the quickest path to the goal would be to build something on the sea of lots in EV. Crossroads will fill in. Maybe not as quickly as you or I would hope for. But there is momentum P...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Lol you can't gentrify the EV. There is literally nothing and hardly anyone there. So let the big money and the master developers have it as their play thing. No harm can be done and with the right vision big rewards will be reaped. We need money on that scale to ever make that are viable for anythi...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I don't even deny that some of the biggest stakeholders might be able to make more money if they put the stadium in the Crossroads. But my stake in this is as a citizen, community member, and a supporter of the small and local businesses. I want bringing the stadium downtown to be worthwhile, but ma...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

"East Crossroads" is kind of hiding the ball as to what people are really advocating for. Y'all want the stadium to come right up to Grand right? That's just the Crossroads. East Crossroads is east of Oak, at least IMO. The streetscape around EV is just so horrifically bad. Imagine they p...

Re: Bike Lanes

Honest question. How do you bicycle folks get your way so often? I have eyes on our downtown bike lanes often and rarely see them in use. I have seen more use than ever before recently after Grand got done. They got the delineators installed today btw. Whatever tactics you all use to get things don...

I passed by a guy on the Gillham cycle track yesterday that had 3 kids on the long tail of his Rad Power Wagon. Very, very, cool to see. That's all.

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Putting an NFL stadium in Paseo West would be a capitulation. Such a strategic location as GRID says is necessary to reconnect neighborhoods to the east. Putting a football stadium there would be to forsake any possibility of that. And as to the "institutional uses" you refer to NormalThin...

Re: KCRag Meetup?

I think a few of us were planning on attending the public meeting for the east/west transit study at that time and perhaps meet for a drink somewhere afterwards. I'd be willing to go to the 10/6 public meeting instead but I'm going to Chicago that afternoon so I'm pretty married to the 10/4 meeting ...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

NFL doesn't belong anywhere near downtown not even the outskirts of downtown... why? What do we even get for that except taking up land that one day far on down the line might have been viable for redevelopment. Put the stadium there and you take the crater that is Paseo West between the Independenc...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

Damn, I'd hate to put off the most pro transit area in a potential vote by double taxing them. Seems absurd and like a very risky way to proceed. I'm sure no decisions are final so I hope that situation would be rectified. Who was your source that the current TDD would end up being double taxed in a...

The pedestrianization of Nichols has been consistently advocated for on the Rag. Though it is an obvious idea, I'd like to think we got to mayor Q on this one.

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

For the hundredth time... there's plenty of population on the way to the stadiums . If the proposal stopped at the Blue River (where density drops off a cliff) you'd all be complaining that it doesn't go far enough. Actually the point past the Blue River is my biggest concern. I'm 100% supportive o...

Re: 7400 Broadway- Apts

I can understand the economy of consolidating as much contiguous property to build the biggest structure you can possibly finance is a good move business-wise. That said the massing is off-putting and would prefer some finer grain. Still, this project gives a very good nod to street level activation...
