Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
So according to your graphic 28.8 million a year in taxes generated “direct, indirect and induced” e.g. the most reaching and optimistic estimate possible and that is “for the state of Missouri” so not necessarily every dollar of that is for Jackson County.
Seems like that kind of proves my point.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
What tax revenue do the teams generate for the city? Not property tax as the stadiums are owned by the county, correct? E-tax for player and staff salaries but even if the teams moved to KS some of those people might reside in KCMO still, so that plus sales tax on concessions. Let me know what other...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion
Could see 18th and Vine streetcar get to a study in not long. Talks are starting to heat up. Funding Funding Funding is the limiting factor. Cost estimates for North Rail and E/W have spiraled out of control. What quarters are these talks heating up in? I'm still unsure what funding for Linwood E/W...

Re: Economy
Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence is a primary supplier of small arms ammunition to the US military as well as a huge supplier to the civilian market. I'm sure a lot of Lake City ammo ends up exported to allied militaries around the world.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Royals will end up downtown no matter this vote. I'd place a large amount of money on it I agree and I would encourage anyone to vote no this time around because it will result in a better deal. If I'm wrong and the Royals end up playing Clay County or Nashville in a few years I won't lose a wink o...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Unfortunately, that is the necessity for most franchises in a small markets unless you have owners with extremely deep pockets and KC does not have that. The alternative is just to let the free market take its course and have baseball only in the largest markets in the US. There are several cities ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Maybe the anti downtown sentiment prevails on facebook but the bigger issue I see people have is giving tax money to a private business. It seems like public subsidies to sports teams have really taken a lot more scrutiny since 2006 and not just in KC.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I honestly had no idea the extent to which something like having other buildings nearby would affect the feds' view of security of their own buildings. I mean the presence of other building wouldn't seem to affect the possibility of a truck borne IED... maybe sniper attacks..? I digress because I'm ...

Yeah but doesn't the current tax not expire until at least when the lease on Kauffman is up? Like 2031 or whatever it is.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 10:55 am Extending taxes infinitely easier than letting it expire and asking for a new tax. That's my guess.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
to the extent the organization has lost the race to public opinion to a bunch of loud people on the internet, i'm not going to blame the loud people on the internet for it. this was always the downside risk of fumbling the rollout. i suspect pretty much everyone here would agree the rollout has bee...

Just curious but what would be the method by which the feds would block development on land they don't own, legally speaking.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Color me skeptical on the Feds shut this down narrative that is now bubbling up. We all know the Feds can present obstacles to get projects to completion, but just like the FAA there are exceptions given all the time. I mean, in Chicago the Federal Building and GSA building are located in the Loop ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Honest question and not trying to be dismissive. If someone is walking down Oak, heading south with intentions to go further into the crossroads. Is walking west 580 feet to get to Grand a major deal? Or 306 feet to get to Locust? I don’t do a great deal of walking outside of recreational purposes ...

Well, I'm trying to be clear that these are my opinions as to not hurt feelings but.... I think it makes for a fucking fantastic experience for people who will go to the games and enjoy downtown. The main entrance to the stadium is at ground level on the south side along Grand. There are multiple p...

Oak is closed for sure on the renderings we've all seen. Truman is tunneled under the park cap. While I know closing Oak is hated by some, it creates a really cool pedestrian experience. The bridge over Truman funnels to the upper concourse which is acts as an outfield plaza in between the building...

this vote has the Chiefs with them, it's not failing . that's why we're pushing so hard for good design and quickly. We know how fast it flips from "too early to talk about that level of detail" (actually posted here) to "sorry too late" in these discussions. How sure are we abo...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The rally call from those unwilling to be displaced will be loud and it will resonate with voters, even if there are only a few. These are entrepreneurs, they are smart and relentless, they are fighters and they are loud. Anyone who doesn't want to sell could drag things out for years if they want ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Zoom in at this graphic in the reddit link. There will be few losses, but to act like a "neighborhood" is being torn down is ridiculous. It has been stated on here as soon as this site was mentioned that it's not only about those in the direct blast zone, it's the larger crossroads impact...
