Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge

GRID's on fire. I have to agree on most everything he's saying. "This is the first step to North Loop Removal." Well why do you say that? "MoDot told us so." Basically sums it up for me. None of this is good or makes sense for anyone but car commuters and especially thru traffic.

As someone who rides a motorcycle, I don't like the look of those things, especially if they are wet.

Re: Regional Transit Coordination

I think basically everyone who has tried to use the bus in the last two years is willing to acknowledge the state of the system is abysmal.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Whatever the Royals build doesn't directly have to compete with the P&L District. What they call an "entertainment district" could be family-friendly restaurants like Applebees, Chili's, Hawaiian Brothers, Sheridan's Frozen Custard, Cold Stone Creamery, and Wahlburgers popular on base...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Uhhh. Everyone seems pretty calm. Just a lot of the same questions debated in this thread for years. Obviously going to be a long process and even when there is a real plan it will take years or even over a decade to fully execute. Hope the discussion doesn’t boil your blood too bad.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

My frustration with the $2 billion number is coming to fruition. *sigh* You guys are all better than this. The royals should be better than this but apparently are not. We’re certainly getting a lot more than just a stadium for that price. Infrastructure, streetscape improvements, housing, retail e...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Personally I hope North Loop is still considered, especially if the 70 gets downgraded back to a Blvd. It would be dense and deeper in the core than EV and the only building that would be demolished is the Flashcube. Realistically it would probably jump start more retail along 8th, 9th, and Broadwa...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I agree the loudest opposition is crying out their last gasp via social media right now. My circle, even the older family members and friends of family, not necessarily just young urban residents are broadly supportive or simply agnostic.

Re: Urban Living Pet Peeves

^ I want to see these too TLG. I’m not a big law and order type in general but these people are endangering life and property in a callous and egregious way. There need to be some examples made here. I don’t give a shit if these people want to go do burnouts and run each other over in the back lot o...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Obviously Q needs to not alienate the East Side. But are we reading too much into that comment. Yes there would obviously be concerns, but are those concerns so sensitive and immutable to make it a complete non-starter? Probably a moot debate since I do think it will be EV. But I’m not as sure as so...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Shooting from the hip but I have trouble seeing how it’s not EV at this point. There were some hints at 18th & Vine. I still think 18th and Vine would do a lot to activate the Crossroads without taking it over. Wouldn’t be against it and maybe there’s a remote possibility. But EV seems like the ...

Re: New Development on 39th st?

Interesting note about the Lorettoo’s southeast parking lot. I’ve been thinking the Loretto’s Mercier St. frontage could be made to work as a townhouse project, not that that’s coming from anywhere but my own head.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

Unsurprised KC does not compete well for TATL service. Others have identified, we don’t have the companies. Such a relatively bad business community here. Not sure what the fix could be. Hard to imagine landing a big HQ and I’m drawing blanks thinking what a next homegrown champion could be.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Returning to the letter itself, it’s hard for me to comment at this stage because I care more about location and what surrounds it than the stadium. You’re all fighting over a number, but my concern is the neighborhood. I think it was a strategic mistake to come out with that $2 billion number and ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Anyways I’m very interested to understand how we are going to afford $2B for Royals, $2B for chiefs and not raise more taxes. Would love a regional initiative but just a hard sell. They'll have to figure it out. I won't vote for it at least. Royals should line up their investors and Chiefs should r...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

More like 7k smaller than the smallest. I'm just saying 28k is just too small. 32k is fine. I think 34k is the most KC can possibly average anyway and that was during the back to back WS run. But building an extra small ballpark for a MLB team just seems silly. I also think the Royals would be maki...
