Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread

FTA just announced they are soliciting proposals for $225 million in funding for new fixed guideway capital projects, small start projects, or core capacity improvement project under the FAST Act. Projects must be public-private partnerships and be requesting 25% or less federal support. These grant...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

Pending home sales in Jackson County was up 27% y.oy. in June. I wonder if this is an inflow or just pent up demand. We are up 5% for the year.

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee

BOE will become downtown's newest surface parking lot! Very exciting news! Wonderful! I love this! Can’t wait to have a new place to park my car East of Grand. I’m trying to decide between the 20 other ones, it’s almost as exciting as a new Applebee’s! The Drury Inn proposal would have been better ...

Re: Freight House Podium Project - 20th and Walnut

A tiny section of west Crossroads is limited to 35-55' to protect the view from PAC to Liberty Memorial (and projects that exceed that have been built -- Arterra -- if they prove they don't obstruct that view). The rest is totally acceptable urban density (75' to unlimited FAR). We could add a lot ...

Crowdsourcing ideas here because I admit I am not an expert on the Plaza. But what would be a good use for this land? I focus on multifamily so that is what I would lead with. Would mixed use work? I'm guessing too far from the Plaza proper to do anything but small retail spaces in a strategic corn...

Re: Three Light

Remote work could be a huge boon for Cordish. Offer luxury the average coastal worker can’t afford for prices cheaper than their current rent. Gigabit speeds with a short link to the downtown data centers/long lines could be a huge selling point that other cities don’t have. Cordish could put a few...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

I have a hard time believing that stadium tax is going to actually go away. At least not quietly. My bet is on a campaign to re-up it to get new stadiums in downtown and either at TSC or KCK. Interesting. I had assumed at least 1 team goes to Kansas which would cut Jackson County's costs in half (o...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

The Jackson County Stadium sales tax expires in a little over 10 years from now. The 3/8th cent sales tax produces about $40 million per year with another $7 million from KCMO. That isn't soon enough to use for a county transit initiative but it could be rolled into a "phase two." 2022 - KC and Jack...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread

Requesting 95% of revenue from the 1/2-cent citywide sales tax for public mass transportation. Much of it is diverted to Public Works, including the FY20-21 budget that funds zero fare. Sounds like good news! This was held off the docket with no discussion or explanation. STL City has a 1 1/2 cent ...

City Walks

I am interested in starting a series of city walks. The idea is to get a group together to walk and explore different areas of the city. I created a poll with some ideas of walks to pursue. Please comment if you would be interested or have suggestions. Length of KCMO N/S (spread across multiple week...
