Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
Worth noting, KCMO did not fully cover the KCATA budget. Either deep cuts inbound or fares will be returning. Also, KCK getting a reworked transit network, but they too are facing cuts. Fares making a comeback then? Fare free transit doesn’t really remove any barriers to entry if routes are cut and...

Re: Downtown KCK
So is the building being demolished or just vacated? KCK won’t even have a downtown left if it tears down much more The building itself is on the National and State Historic Register as well as in the New Downtown KCK Historic District, also on the State Register. It easily has a chance to be saved...

Current owners (Kearns Brothers) got foreclosed on apparently. They had plans to renovate and convert a portion into apartments.empires228 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 5:12 pmThe article I just finished reading definitely implied that the current owners have defaulted on it.

Mayor(?) Garner is OOO for an "undisclosed time" with Mayor Pro Tem Tom Burroughs stepping in to perform most of the duties “We haven’t had that discussion, it’s open ended, he could be back in two weeks, he could be back in a month, I have no idea,” Burroughs said. Burroughs, a state rep...

Re: Johnson County Transit (The JO)
So they cut the express routes to downtown KC? That's not good news for ever establishing a rail connection along I-35 to downtown. Does downtown KC even have a sizable "rush hour" anymore from the suburbs or does all the traffic go to JoCo now? I'd say there is still a rush hour, but it ...

Re: Johnson County Transit (The JO)
Three JoCo routes to be eliminated. 482 - Flex, 519 - Olathe Express and 595 - Gardner Express. 3 Low performing express or limited Flex routes. County stands to save $833,000. I wonder if they attempt to reinvest some of that into the system somehow (maybe bring 402 to all-day service?).

Re: Mayor Garner planning to restructure the UG
Every state needs to have at least one corrupt, old guard county with idiotic leaders. Looks like Wyandotte County is the biggest one in Kansas. Send in the Feds to review Garner and Company's backgrounds. I'm sure there's some goodies in there that would clean up the county government rapidly. Whi...

Re: Mayor Garner planning to restructure the UG
This is just a political stunt by a mayor who is throwing a temper tantrum because we didnt cut the budget and he won't bring forward a better budget, and he's salty the commission tried to limit his power as mayor to set agendas (he had too much power). Mayor Garner has the nerve to point fingers a...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
I say they let the mall go broke, lose all its tenants, then abandon it leaving a giant piece of blight for those people in Mission to look at for the next 10 years. Meanwhile Mission can suffer the plight of other inner ring suburbs which is declining population, increased crime, blight, and aband...
