Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties

CompassKC got a new upload that includes only letters against. Here's a summary Old Hyde Park Neighborhood Association - Wants more parking because 183 spaces for 450 bedrooms in an area with little parking will cause major congestion and parking issues. The scale is also too large for the neighbor...

Re: Woodside Health Expansion in Westwood

Woodside expansion once again, held over. Remanded back to City Planning Commission in January.

The gift that keeps on giving.

Re: Downtown KCK

The action to recommend approval and green light the application for the Downtown KCK Historic District was held over and sent back to standing committee.

The mayor and his economic counsel (the "great" Lavert Murray) are seemingly trying to sandbag this action. Why? Who knows.....

Re: Downtown KCK

If Strawberry Hill people really end up bitching about something at the Grund Hotel site/6th and Ann, then that's truly unfortunate. It's downtown at that point. I know the plan is for 6-stories which is appropriate. Strawberry Hill has caught wind and does have "issues" with it. This is ...

Re: Downtown KCK

Wow! What a neat surprise to wake up to this morning. Former 7-story UMB Bank tower in downtown KCK may see new life as apartments, office Veritas and BellaCore Developments, also based in Kansas City, Kansas, aim to remake the building a mixed-use project with 15,000 square feet of commercial and ...

Re: Downtown KCK

The east side apartments will have some of the best DT KCMO views in town. It looks like less damage was done to the underlying facade than was done to the old SW Bell/Oak Tower. So much was lost around 1970 when KCK tried to "modernize" its business district. Two gracious old residential...

Re: Downtown KCK

The building next door was slated to be redeveloped separately, but it caught fire in early-October. It may redeveloped with this project though, but nothing is confirmed.

Yeah, Accela isn't quite as good as Compass is, or used quite as well as Compass.

God I am so excited to see this come back through. Hoping this time it's successful and they can restore it and get her back online. This, combined with the potential 6th & Ann Mixed-Use, as well as potential remodel of the International Brotherhood Building at 8th & Minnesota, could be a ga...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

Omaha’s streetcar line was announced, some board feedback, and now being executed. They similarly had studied the stuff before as we have east west. They have the community something to rally behind and it’s worked well. I don’t quite understand why we are perpetually in discussion phase. Our woes ...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

KCATA needs to pick something and go with it. KC has a KC of too much “discussing”. Need to propose a package of improvements and announce it to the public. Redraw as needed based on feedback. Seconded. The ambiguity doesn't help the public make an informed decision or provide valuable input. I att...

Re: Regional Transit Coordination

Stadium service got outlawed under the Bush Administration to let private services take it over (notice how they never did). Not quite correct. KCATA was running special event service using federally funded vehicles and that's what got "outlawed". Regular service to the stadiums exists to...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

My point is that we can have frequent service in the core all we want, but if there aren't the jobs, or other services within the core, then the service still isn't useful in many contexts. I've never seen more people in a city that will take a job much further away from their homes for just a litt...

Re: Regional Transit Coordination

The problem to me is that transit advocates, urban planners, policy leaders don't quite know or care to actually work on messaging and framing the conversation on things like mass-transportation, smart land-uses, walkability, etc and make it sound attractive and digestible to the common person, or t...

Re: Downtown KCK

It appears that everything that could go wrong with an older building did go wrong. Rereading old newspaper articles, I learned the Huron Building was demolished in 1999 after years of lack of maintenance and neglect by former owners, and attempts by developers to renovate it. The problem was it we...

Re: Regional Transit Coordination

And on top of all that, Missouri is one of the only states in the country that does not have dedicated funding for transit. In metro KC, the ATA has to beg any city that has metro bus service to contribute. So this is why there is no fixed route bus services in in most of the MO side suburbs and th...
