Re: Westport
My guess is the owners made money in their investment and were put off by rising costs & the fact that if they wanted to continue to make money it would take more time & energy on their part. Pure speculation on my part. But bars & restaurants are riddled with history of owners loving th...

Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)
would there be an option to have a pro sports team in TMobile and look to build a stand alone outstanding class concert venue somewhere within the downtown area? I know we have the performing arts center and it does very well. Any chance to somehow piggyback off of that and create a concert venue wo...

Re: Possible USOPC Training Center KCI
my guess is there is a lot of cheap land available for facilities that will sprawl a bit as per the requirements of square footage. Plus a super close location to the airport will make it very easy for athletes and their families, coaches, etc. be able to get in and out quickly as the majority of th...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a 20K MLB baseball stadium would be a bit light. However I think about 30-35K would be a good sweet spot of the Royals and teams in similar markets. But no reason for KC to be 40K.

Interesting listing. Wonder what was there before or if it was just old homestead land? Ironic the listing is under Bill Maas in the shadow of his old employer.

Re: Westport
I agree the weekday crowds are much less than the weekends. However I think the area needs to maybe cater more to a crowd looking to eat & drink and have a good time but not "college town rager bars". Those places were fun in college and fun after college. But with the mix of eateries ...

Really looks like they will bank on this thing drawing from the region more so than just KC. Good for KC to at least take a shot and continue to invest in the area. Kind of stinks that the rest of KCK is still lacking but maybe with the Panasonic Plant going up there will be opportunities for the gr...

Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge
Love the idea. Especially removing the dangerous on & off ramps in the North Loop. If they did that at min it would be better. However for this to really work an entire revamp of the east Loop would be necessary. Lucky there is room to do it the way it sets up now but that needs to be solved to ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point
I understand the building is not very pretty and I agree seems like a lot of wasted space but my guess is it was built exactly to spec when it was constructed. AS mentioned if they consolidate to one facility it's nice to know KC is the spot and those jobs ultimately help the METRO. KC has a very po...

Well, it’s not. But if this is what he’s posting, it’s because it’s true. They aren’t going anywhere besides to one of our surrounding counties (at the worst). And I’m not really scared about that too much if it’s the Chiefs. All the fear about Chiefs moving to Dallas and Royals to a dozen other pl...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Weird, the people who make these decisions disagree with you. Today at least. Not sure how many times I'm going to have to explain how Cordish played a role here. They wanted downtown baseball, they didn't twist arms into the East Crossroads site. There was some nudging but it wasn't by Cordish. We...

I hope this will make the Royals & Chiefs comeback to the drawing board with better thought out & details plans that show a commitment to transformational development. However I’m more concerned that there is an undercurrent of uninformed & misguided groups whose anti development rhetori...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Saving a couple buildings east of Oak doesn't prevent the Royals from building Hotels and Apartment buildings over there, I don't see what the big deal is. You could save half the buildings on Oak, save the fire station, and still fit 10+ one light size buildings between Oak/Cherry/Truman/17th I'm ...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats
Well KCMO just invested a lot into infrastructure within Clay County within the last 5 yrs, especially in a corridor long 169 & 152 HWY's. So they are ready to grow for sure. I mean from the Metro North Crossing, parking lot looking South you can see the city skyline. The county is well position...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats
Nice to see Clay county on the MO side give JOCO some competition. So much room for growth up here in Clay & Platte county. Basically all residential growth, with mega employers /giant corporate campuses. If downtown could ever gain a major HQ or have some moderate sized companies locate downtow...

Re: New mixed use tower at 8th and Grand
as with all development in the last 5 years I'm excited, especially for something in the North Loop which has been underserved in the downtown development boom as of late. But the skeptic in me see this as being a maybe, as it appears so many other exciting projects have been booted, delayed, or sto...

Royals will end up downtown no matter this vote. I'd place a large amount of money on it I agree and I would encourage anyone to vote no this time around because it will result in a better deal. If I'm wrong and the Royals end up playing Clay County or Nashville in a few years I won't lose a wink o...

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)
Do people in KC say the word "parking" more than people in any other place in the world? Serious question. Wish there was a way to find out. Well I’d say the US adopted car centric travel & designed city growth & planning around it when places like Europe had very few cars & u...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I support downtown stadium 100%. Was in the crossroads tonight, East Crossroads, after dinner. It was buzzing with activity. As I drove through the area and around the proposed site I gathered some more perspective. Crossroads will thrive without the stadium. But stadium could really help jump start...
