Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

Not sure what it means to employees at WR. Hopefully there will not be that many layoffs, with the possibility of new positions going forward. I did read the same info about JPM looking to relocate to areas outside on NYC. It would be a great way for the city to capitalize and maybe look at them exp...

hopefully we'll see some more buildings that will add some height. I agree the 4 story boxes are boring when you have more than 3 of them around

Re: Bridging Park & Market

Make no mistake I understand that commuting via cars will still be the dominate form of transportation in the city. However I am 47 and can see a shift as the city's populations grows over the next 25yrs for a desire for more options of mass transit. I even expect to be alive and god willing, vibran...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

lots of good development, and a unique mix of things to make the river front more of a destination. I hope they mix in market rate and even look at "high end" in the future to bring a real mix to the area. Not only from residences but retail, entertainment, and even Office, It would be great that we...

Re: Bridging Park & Market

Sorry my post was not more clear. I was thinking a commuter rail station in the Northland, park & ride located at the north end of Burlington where there is a lot of available space to make this happen. Just East, South East of Water Works would be a good spot. Then rail/street car route right down ...

Re: Bridging Park & Market

would love to be able to incorporate a design with a future commuter rail aspect of some kind. I think there would be a great Park & Ride opportunity for commuters from the Northland who work downtown to use that. As someone who drives into downtown from the Northland for work any options like that ...

Re: 18th and Vine

As for 18th & Vine, I just hope they can build on the Crossroads momentum east and tap into that. Honestly it will be great for all of KC that the areas in and around down town continue to prosper. Let's continue to let those successes radiate out from the middle, which is downtown, and bring areas ...

Re: 18th and Vine

I think with the East Village, we saw the Metro Hub transportation center thing, but otherwise whomever owns the land over there has decided to sit on it, regardless of the dollars put forth. I think the idea of the down town stadium going there had always been smoldering, allowing for the land owne...

Re: 18th and Vine

The point of my comment was to seek something unique to connect the area to rest of crossroads. I was playing with “fun money” if you will. I realize as of today there is no reason to fund such an adventure especially given the great success of current street car & the expansion South to UMKC. I’m j...

Re: 18th and Vine

I agree this rendering is not very attractive at all. It looks like "up scale lame" IMO. Considering some of the architectural restore that have been done in the area I would think a unique modern take inspired by 1930's & 40 Art Deco would play well with the history of the area and the heyday if yo...

It would work well downtown for sure.

I'm sure it may hurt a little the NKC location, but I doubt it because there are a ton of Northlanders that love the place.

Re: 3rd & Grand to be redeveloped as TOD

As someone who works downtown, garage parking is a helluva racket. Most companies pay for all or subsidies parking for employees. Most garages are shared with residences in nearby residential buildings. I would love a garage that could be park and ride with a cheaper option. A nice secure garage wit...

Re: Twincreeks updated site plan

I agree that developments like this can benefit downtown residents. I know a lot of people journey into NKC to take advantage of some of the breweries and places to eat there. These types of developments have lagged behind in the Northland, compared to JOCO & such. But I think the silver lining is a...

we need a good Greek/Mediterrian place downtown, cross roads. There is one on Grand downtown that is not bad but can't think of a go to in Crossroads. Heck just a good Gyro spot would be great

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

But I'm not 100% the current Mayor has the chops or appetite to court these type of development deals. People may not have always liked Sly, but the guy knew how to rub elbows and get deals done, even if they maybe weren't the best deals. I think Q has the same desire but may lack enough in some are...

Plus by then I wonder what kind of improved infrastructure will be in place with the large data centers planned in the Northland. Google will have one and then the other big deal data center out by the airport. This may have some influence on companies looking to relocate. Plus the new airport would...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

IF Union Pacific were serious about a move KC would be a great spot. Given the history of the city as a rail hub, and the various logistics campuses/warehousing withing the area would be a perfect fit. But I'm sure Omaha will fight hard to keep it. But you never know

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

love the outdoor seating areas, adds a nice European Cafe feel. I would not be to concerned about ppl crashing into it, plus you could always trim some of the size that gets to close to traffic. But risk would be no different than a car jumping the curb and hitting someone on the sidewalk. If there ...

Yeah, it says Superior Linens needs a partner/investor/mentor. They definitely need some help. I'm not too surprised that they have some interest in development because all of their properties besides their main linen building are under the title of Superior Real Estate Venture, which would hint th...

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee

I thought there had been a new rendering for development in this area, beyond the twisty building. It does stink that there is that much blank/open parking rang lad in that area. It will kind of be a hole now with what is around it. However I do like the fact they tore down a building that was aging...
