Re: North Kansas City

I really hope NKC can begin to generate more of a Brookside vibe as well. I know it's a little tougher in the town itself has more Commercial, light industry dedicated land than residential. However the charm once you get into the neighborhoods it's closer. But again NKC housing was mostly a boom to...

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

i understand the premise, but curious where we could re-route traffic if North loop was completely closed. The East Bottoms, and NKC have no other route to get to I-70 or I-35/I-29 effectively. Access in East Bottoms is basically Front St. With Highways at 435 side and I-29/I-35. There are no altern...

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

Agree on the cap over 670. North loop of I-70 trickier. I do support realignment of terribly dangerous on ramps from downtown need to go and be reworked. I also support development infill with that realignment. However total removal is tough. I live in the Northland traffic is bad enough on I-29/35 ...

Re: 13th and Grand tower

Also I see posts where people get bunched up about buildings that consider parking. I hate to tell ya but KC is always going to consider this. KC is car centric, even the ppl who live & work downtown mostly own cars. The cars are needed to get out to other areas of town easily. Perhaps that becomes ...

Re: 13th and Grand tower

I like the twisty tower renderings we have seen. A tall tower would be great but outside of incredibly dense urban areas we don’t see them as much. Financially easier to lease and maintain something smaller, potentially even more profitable. I’ll take another 30-40 architecturally distinct building ...

Re: Westport

Westport made a nice transition when it started opening more restaurants and such instead of just stand alone bars. It helped to create a better vibe than just wild college bars free for all. There are still handful of just bars down there but I think the more they can get to create more of an "up s...

Re: Layoffs at The Star

kenrbnj, I would argue that the KC metro is more moderate, than staunchly conservative. Having grown up in KC for all but 3 years of my 46 on this Earth my observation is there is a good mix of liberal & conservative. Also a mix of people of people that may fall toward the extremes but rational enou...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

I don't think Cerner is headed down the same path as Sprint. Certainly has been a little rougher seas so to speak with the death of Neal Patterson & retirement of Cliff Illig all within a 2 year span. Not to mention C-suite departures and shakes ups. However I think they will rebound and and continu...

Re: "Flashcube" Building - 720 Main

I agree it does not need to be high end or luxury, which is what most of the new apartments have been in the downtown core. I'm not sure the market they are going for, but given the renderings showing the vast amenities I would assume they want to be in more of the high end market or close to it. I ...

Re: "Flashcube" Building - 720 Main

FYI, those are a pickle ball courts.

The one room they showed was interesting. 2 bedrooms but 1 bath. Also kitchen & living room seemed small. I would think they would have been better off making that a 1br and rework the space. Also anyone who wants 2 br most likely wants 2 baths.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Not sure how I feel about moving the Crossroads music venue. That stage along with Grinders was basically the main driver for all of the activity/development in East Cross roads. I’d love for 18th Street over time Vine and Jazz District to be a vibrant corridor. However going South on Vine from 18th...

Re: 1650 Broadway

That Denny's does stick out in it's surroundings and I would love to have the space for something else for sure. But if it's got to stay I agree with Moderne. Let's make it the most awesome Denny's in America. Renovate it to it's 1960's historical roots. Make it like dinning in museum, an ode to the...

Re: 1650 Broadway

nice, the previous showed 3 tall buildings, making things a bit more closed off. I like the new SE building being shorter, but also more open with the glass but also more dynamic with the overall angular styling.

Re: P&L District 10 years later

The Bar Louie in P&L was very poorly managed. It was never staffed properly, just poorly run. I work downtown and would go there for lunch at times, especially when convetion business was in town and other places were swamped. That place was large enough to not wait, but just about every time I went...

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

Do we know they will move as soon as their lease is up? Do we have confirmation? I understand the premise of your point, that the design needs improvements and should be more future oriented, especially since W&R won't commit beyond 15yrs. I personally thing this is more of tax sheltering, business ...
