Re: Olathe's first Mixed Use

135 parking spots at 5 people per car = 675 people

135 parking spots at 7 people per car (it is south JoCo after all!) = 945 people

Something less than a drop in the bucket. This country is ill with Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to our parking.

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

One would hope the City would consider some mixed use component. A street-grade restaurant on the corner would be nice. There are several hundred new residents west of Broadway in the new apartment communities. KCS, HNTB, Turner Construction, Americo, and DST employees might like a new eatery in th...

When I was there it was not good food and was very dirty. I hate eating while trying to fend off flies. Why could they not just eat from the uncleared tables?

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

This does look nice. I suppose my only questions are: Why head-in parking and what happened to the no-curb option? Wouldn't that better identify the area as shared/pedestrian oriented space?

Looks like bonds chicken already closed up. That guy threw a bunch of money on 2 failed businesses at that location now. That bathroom/atmosphere when it was a arcade still gives me nightmares
I think the chicken place was only open maybe a month? It closed real fast.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I at first had issues with no covered tunnel from garage to terminal but it's pretty common at all airports and seems fine. If it's raining when you are parking for a departure just go down to the bottom level and walk across Or simply walking in the rain for 30 seconds reveling in your semi-waterp...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

There is a space next to the garage for a future rail or BRT station. It also looks like solar panels will be on top of the garage and entry/exit points. Pics plz Next to the north-side garage wall at the departures drop off. https://www.buildkci.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/191103_KCI-Garage_Vie...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I wish we didn't have to have a monstrosity of a garage, but it is what it is. I hope it's been designed for present and future transit. There is a space next to the garage for a future rail or BRT station. It also looks like solar panels will be on top of the garage and entry/exit points. Pics plz

Re: OFFICIAL - New Downtown YMCA (former Lyric Theater)

I'm surprised how much smaller this is than previously proposed. Had no idea it changed--did that happen during construction? Could have sworn it was planned to be much larger as recently as the beginning of construction. I’ve never seen anything to suggest it used to be larger I thought the new bu...

If the setbacks are fine, don't come complaining when Broadway continues its march as downtown's #1 traffic sewer with no pedestrian activity.
The circle drive on the northernmost building in particular is a no-go for me. Reminiscent of 2600 Grand, very Corporate Woods-at-the-Kauffman.

Time to dredge up the renderings from ten years ago of what Copaken plans over there. It would seem to fit the bill described.

EVERYONE! I would love to see a 50-story building too. Not to be a dick, but these things take time! Six months ago; there had been ZERO concrete plans for office development. ..Only a few crude renderings and pie-in-the-sky talk. Today, the urban center has THREE substantial developments; engineer...

Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

I've always been puzzled why the Muehlebach isn't being renovated into hotel rooms. The lobby is already connected to the Marriott buildings, and they were using some of the meeting rooms. It would be an obvious candidate for one of the Marriott brands. I recall being told that it was mothballed be...
