Re: Downtown Q3/4 (re-)occupancy needed - service industry needs love

Company (national financial firm) keeps moving the back-to-the-office date farther out, most likely based on continuing spikes of COVID-19 occurring around the country. I actually have fewer distractions at home than at the office, where I have a co-w...

Re: Layoffs at The Star

I just can't read all the news on my phone, I get tired of that and all the BS that comes with online reading. Reading a paper gets you full in debth stories that nobody else gets now because they get their news from social media summaries and what not. Nobody reads a full news articles anymore (ev...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Several years ago, NBC had the made-for-TV movie "Asteroid." An asteroid is headed for Kansas City. It hits the "Freeman Dam", causing water to flow down the mountain and flood downtown Kansas City (downtown Denver shown). There was major damage at "3rd & Olive" and at "24th and Market Street". To ...

Cinetopia sues AMC

It seemed to me like this ought to have its own thread, but this is my first topic, so feel free to move this to the Prairiefire thread if appropriate. https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2018/05/07/op-cinema-owner-sues-amc-for-undermining-it.html This was interesting: Cinetopia claims that ...

Re: The Official Kansas City Weather Thread

Here in Des Moines yesterday, snowplows were out, there was a towing ban in effect in the morning (if you get stuck, your car stays right where it is until the towing ban is lifted), and I believe we got over an inch of snow, although a lot of it melted later in the day. This morning, there is still...
