Cambria is moving forward. 3 revisions were submitted in December. https://compasskc.kcmo.org/EnerGov_Prod/SelfService/#/plan/fbae3308-cdcf-4304-a8a1-2544b2bb892a?tab=reviews https://compasskc.kcmo.org/EnerGov_Prod/SelfService#/permit/8ab50cd6-6f7c-4035-806f-ff871e2329cb?tab=moreinfo What a boost f...

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
https://i.imgur.com/UFd7Qh6.jpg This is a great view of Reverb. With additional infill the picture could be mistaken for somewhere in Manhattan. From the south isn't bad either. I really like the way Reverb and Corrigan Station play off each other, same scale but completely different styles. https:...

https://lead.bank/single-blog/news-press-releases/2015/10/22/lead-bank-opens-flagship-branch-in-kansas-city’s-crossroads-district Lead Bank would have been able to take all of Corrigan 2. The fact they didn't move there shows that they are probably not working with Copaken on some larger vision. Re...

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
I'm beginning to really like Reverb, and yes I do know how to eat crow. My problem was I saw it as poorly design Main Street building, when in fact it is a Walnut Street building, with it's back facing Main across an alley. Look how from the corner of 18th and Walnut, it lines up evenly with Corriga...

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
I'm now liking Reverb better because of the parking cables. No way they leave that section of parking exposed to the street car unless they know they will end up being covered. I'm thinking this building will be torn down... https://i.imgur.com/mxUCK6L.jpg and replaced by a building looking more lik...

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
Look, I'm no fan of this building...but I'm glad that it got built. It's MUCH better than a parking lot. And I've seen a whole hell of a lot worse looking buildings...BYGONE-IT!!  I absolutely agree. My biggest problem with Reverb is how is doesn't relate to Main Street a half block away...

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
That doesn't make any sense. I'm pretty sure that it's up to the owners that determine the look and style. If I'm paying for something to look like shit, then bygone, it will. If I was an architect, and someone wants me to design a turd...so long as I'm being paid, turd it is. Bygone it, thanks for...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt House (900 Broadway)
I believe so. I’m thinking the crane removal is brinkmann’s way of letting the developer know they’re getting impatient.

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt House (900 Broadway)
My contact at Brinkmann says the crane is scheduled to come down first week of January. However, he is also optimistic the project will happen. Go figure.

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
They poached architectural talent away from established firm(s). They're not starting from scratch. I’m sorry, but I think Reverb shows they didn’t do a very good job poaching. That doesn't make any sense. I'm pretty sure that it's up to the owners that determine the look and style. If I'm paying f...

Burns and Mac should stick to engineering and leave architecture to the architects. An architecture firm shouldn't do architecture? https://www.burnsmcd.com/about-us We are a family of companies with an unmatched team of 7,600 engineers, construction professionals, architects, technologists and sci...

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
Compare how Arterra fills in and relates to its neighbors in the Freight house district, and how awkward Reverb looks in it's neighborhood. It won't look awkward in 10 years when the two of those four corners have new developments on them. I love all the views of Reverb from various spots in the Cr...

Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
I can't believe Reverb was developed by the same people that did Arterra. Whereas Arterra is good architecture and excellent urbanism, Reverb is awful at both. Compare how Arterra fills in and relates to its neighbors in the Freight house district, and how awkward Reverb looks in it's neighborhood. ...

Re: 5th & Main Southern Corners
Stop thinking of urban living as fit people who always want to walk outside. Climate controlled paths provide a lot of value in creating an accessible city as one piece of the puzzle. Twenty some years ago Minneapolis was serious about removing their 10 miles of skywalks to help the street level bu...

Re: 5th & Main Southern Corners
If you generally know what it would take to do something like a 5-story bridge, you can do a preliminary cost estimate on it. Or you can hire a cost estimator or a CM to do the estimate. If there was not a good example of a bridge like this, they may have asked a structural to schematically size th...

Re: 5th & Main Southern Corners
There's likely a concrete podium that would support the steel. My point is that those of us who don’t want to see Main Street turned into a cavern really don’t have much to worry about. Half-baked pie in the sky. This is a really common construction type that would be easy to do a preliminary cost ...

Re: 5th & Main Southern Corners
NSPJ designs wood frame apartment buildings with some structural steel in the entry/lobby area. What in the world is going to support a 5 story apartment bridge? I'll be interested in seeing this project after the engineers get involved and they have their first budget review.
