Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Two items. I saw a few commenting that the proposed stadium would have the smallest seating capacity for MLB. First I heard of this. Second, early voting has been much higher than in past April elections. Of course no results of vote totals. Election officials are expecting a voter turnout of close...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Signed Lease agreements are done. Of course, some will say there's not enough detail but this vote needs to happen before more detail can be added.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
They said Oak will remain open, they didn't say it will remain straight. I dropped some basic drawings in here months ago showing how a small stadium could work while adjusting Oak a bit. Very common around baseball stadiums. Hard to imagine how they'll fit a stadium strictly between Oak and Grand....

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Stadium design minimally impacted by keeping Oak open. Grand side will likely have a less dramatic and more narrow sidewalk.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
They just dumped an extra million into the campaign yesterday. Clearly they know they are losing. No actually. They know they're winning but it's not by much. They're hedging their bet. Welcome to politics. And good on them for making compromises after hearing the people. Solidifies the fact they d...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
It's panderinfg because they are behind. The average voter isn't going to care about keeping Oak open. Then it would make no sense to make this change if nobody cares. They just dumped an extra million into the campaign yesterday. Clearly they know they are losing. No actually. They know they're wi...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
They were pie in the sky concepts anyways which was made clear when anybody made any kind of negative comment about them Sure. That’s your opinion which is not reality. Everything was conceptual but the foundational ideas like the pedestrian bridge, hotel and office with large viewing decks, connec...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
So stadium related developments east of Oak are dead for now? Would be a mistake to still not buy up a large amount of the property over there and plan some things. There are sites for two big buildings and a series of smaller gaps for smaller buildings. I will be with John Sherman later tonight an...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Saving a couple buildings east of Oak doesn't prevent the Royals from building Hotels and Apartment buildings over there, I don't see what the big deal is. You could save half the buildings on Oak, save the fire station, and still fit 10+ one light size buildings between Oak/Cherry/Truman/17th I'm ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I also doubt the mayor would come out and publicity say that if he didn't already know the royals were changing the plans to incorporate oak. The Oak change is not a shock in the least bit. Makes sense. It's the idea that the Royals don't need to build anything else besides a stadium that's a major...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Mayor is now on record saying he doesn't want this project to come across Oak Street at all. He is also saying he doesn't even think they should build any kind of entertainment, restaurant or bars as there are already plenty in the area. Two things are interesting about this: 1. This is a comple...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm seeing about 80% negative (no) support online, but the opposition is always the loudest group. It's going to be very tight. Can we talk about the opposition leader for a minute? She continues to swing voters towards yes with her daily rants. Let's look at her latest post where she at one moment ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
No one has made a clear case why East Village was discarded after years of contemplation, other than "too expensive" or "MoDOT/feds don't like it". Not saying I don't believe it because I know the complexity of those players, but the opacity here is beyond frustrating. And the d...

Re: The Midland Lofts (formerly Midland Office Building)
Yeah there is no way that website is accurate at this point. It's accurate. so how have they leased these out without a leasing office? Advertising? Anything? prearranged through some agreement? They're managed by the same team who manages the light buildings. They've been advertising for months an...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I don't know if EV comes back, but I would feel reasonably confident that the Royals end up in JaxCo. I wouldn't say the same about the Chiefs. Maybe someone can explain to me why a state-of-the-art Kansas-side Chiefs stadium that could potentially bring a Super Bowl without cost to Jackson County ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
If this vote fails, there's a chance they could wait until the fall ballot to try again. However, there are other ways to get this done that doesn't involve Jackson County government at all.
East Village is out. It will not resurface as a potential site according to everything I know.
