Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I honestly think that if the Royals don’t get a DT stadium done, SKC will make the move there. They sell out every game. Soccer is becoming a major sport on pace with MLB and NLF. And they will need a larger stadium than Sporting Park in the next decade. They also seem to have a demographic that ma...

Re: Layoffs at The Star

I still maintain we need a local non-profit daily. Bring all of the local Star diaspora for a couple of years to help set it up and give it legitimacy. Honestly starting to think this ought to be part of the Chamber's Big 5. The absence of a local paper of record is devastating for this region. So ...

Re: Pursuing FREE City-Wide Bus

Q excites me and frustrates me at the exact same time. IMHO he hasn’t done anything good yet except for free transit which I think would have happened eventually anyways. Also, if free transit requires cuts to critical programs like EDC, VisitKC, and maybe streetcar in the future - is it really wor...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I think the new STL Central West End MetroLink station canopy design would be a good example to follow for the Plaza Streetcar stop. Surely the Plaza stop will become the busiest on the network. I'm just throwing an idea out there since I don't know what the plans have in store for station design. ...

I think you have a good point about rail being easier for suburbanites to support than other mass transit ideas
Agreed. No rail = fails outside the core

Re: KC's Big 5 needs for 2020s

To draw jobs that require higher education, need a strong university. Many starting out after a degree want to get an advanced degree while working. Research universities also draw funding, which improves university overall and also typically creates startups. A quality university is the only way w...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

Really depressing figures but expected given the lethargic office market at large still, just robbing from each other mostly. Were it not for Mahomes, the mood would be abysmal. Have said it before but just doing the same as peers is not going to pull KC out of the vortex. BIG BOLD thinking and act...

They would love to have the garage underground but it will come down to the numbers like usual. The less floors above ground that are dedicated to parking, the more revenue potential. According to my source, the parking garage is still being discussed but a decision will be made next week. So is th...

Not much confidence in these developers if they are maintaining a dangerous building demolition site for years. Not good neighbors.
I am shocked no one has fallen off yet.

Re: Downtown tower construction boom in 2020?

Nashville has like 30 cranes up downtown. 30 different cranes than it had a few years ago. Downtown Nashville has at least tripled in size in less than ten years. Nashville is on a totally different level and are well on there way to be more of a peer to Denver than to KC. I took this pic last week...

St. Louis is looking at a multi-county TDD to fund improvements at their airport. Said TDD would generate $80-100million annually. https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/regional-leaders-float-idea-to-buy-lambert-from-st-louis/article_21facd25-b47e-53d0-af6d-453f21d8eb8c.html#tracking-source=hom...
