Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
Chris, it's my hope that the full identity of the tenant who destroyed the house and neglected the dogs is published for all to see. There is something to be said about "harsh consequences": I have personally no moral objection to a tenant who destroys a property and neglects animals to li...

Had to speak up. The KCBJ had a neat article filed today, "Seven Projects Which May Transform KC's Downtown" Please keep me honest: When it is written that "Cordish" or other developer proposes a project; I say to myself, "Credible. That's going to be a good project." W...

Just stayed at the Hotel Kansas City -- quick business trip into town. First time back in a few years. As a jaded traveler - I book/stay in 120-150 hotel room nights per year, mostly Hyatt properties. That Hotel Kansas City is a stand-out It is beautiful from every angle. The attention to historic d...

Now that is appropriate in style and scale. I am impressed.
Tremendous addition. Sincere hope the finance and zoning approvals meet calm waters.

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)
What's interesting is this: The activists not only demand below-market rate housing. They demand the housing be on-offer in the most desirable locales. The "Gentrification" argument holds no water. Many of the areas gentrified had been neglected for decades. The neglect, on balance, was pe...

Am looking to buy a place anywhere along this line, maybe Boca. Planning extensive global travel next year and will be nice to have easy access to 3 international airports and 3 cruise ports along the line. Extension to Tampa also planned. BTW am now reluctantly but officially a FL resident for tax...

Truly a simple means to quell this: Raise tax rates on the dirt and lower the taxes on the improvement.
The fact owning an acre of empty lot in the CBD yields a tax burden of a couple thousand dollars annually to the city is absurdity.

^Thanks @Fang for posting all of these pictures! Is this site and the site from Collison's article today in CitySceneKC the same or are they two different proposals. Sorry, if this was answered previously. Same project. We need FAA to back off and start approving things. An uncooperative FAA is may...

Seems like they will need to raise the crane, but I don't see one of those deals that wrap around the tower that helps add more sections. I think 1-2 jumps was posted by JeDunn It is odd, the hoisting collar was not fitted to the crane (unless it is below grade). Would JE Dunn really interrupt a co...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
If KC Tenants had been a force for good, basic economic theory should be consulted. Demand for below-market rate apartments simply discourages investment. Discourage investment, supply is constrained. When supply is constrained, prices rise. Furthermore, the basic premise of "Tax Incentives&quo...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
A local company I used to work for had this as a cultural mantra: " Those who oppose, must propose. " It is not enough merely to stand in the way of an idea, that's a half thought. You have to propose a decent workable alternative. Pay attention to politics for any length of time and you'...

Beautiful Chris. Thank you.
From the angle facing southwest (in your photo); one could be forgiven to ask, " Is that Kansas City?"
Consider this: All buildings in that camera angle are less than three years of age..
That's pretty neat. (Great photography.)

Nobody is really taking about tearing it down right? I was being sarcastic No, I was kidding around. Comments were taken way too seriously. The point is that Allis Plaza was never relevant. It had been a partially submerged building with a concrete garden on the roof. Someone should consider doing ...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
I mean if we tear down municipal and bartle and Marriott I think there is a chance. Some on this board would be all for that level of teardown. Those buildings are old and dirty. Bartle yes! The thinking is for a "Wrigley Field" style stadium; small footprint and remote parking. (Sorry. Y...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
What might be considered is to put the ballpark on the footprint of Allis Plaza, then improve the miserably underutilized property west of Bartle Hall for parking, hotels, amenities. This way the parking and hospitality resources are shared between both venues. The exclusive discussion of locating o...

Nice view! But this really makes me realize the skyline has not changed one bit for over thirty years when viewed from the north. You can just barely see some of the low rise stuff in the river market. You are *spot-on*. The days before I could legally drink, sporting a "fake ID" in my wa...
