Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm actually liking the fact they'll build less but I'm also wondering how they'll generate additional revenue. Higher attendance and year-round rent paying tenants in their commercial spaces are more than they have now. The higher attendance bump from a new stadium wears off after 4 to 5 years and...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Saving a couple buildings east of Oak doesn't prevent the Royals from building Hotels and Apartment buildings over there, I don't see what the big deal is. You could save half the buildings on Oak, save the fire station, and still fit 10+ one light size buildings between Oak/Cherry/Truman/17th I'm ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Buck O'Neil Bridge
Anyone seen the 119th ST bridge over I-35 in Olathe, and the lighting system they incorporated into that? I don’t imagine the Airport would take kindly to a large amount of bridge lighting that close to the runway, but I’d also see this as an easy way to dress up an otherwise unsightly and grotesque...

What more is there to study honestly? They’ve done all the work, they just need funding mechs to secure construction from the sound of it

Re: Levy at Martini Corner (NE Corner 31st & Gillham)
We *should* (based on what the neighborhood association has been told) see construction begin on this in a month or two. While there hasn't been any permit activity in a while, the Compass project has recently-updated plans for platting . Was getting nervous with the hay being thrown down on the de...

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village
I think I'm personally sick of seeing everything new go up downtown being "luxury" myself. I think back to nearly two decades ago when I moved downtown and there was no in between. It was income restricted or high-end. I wish we'd dedicate a portion of EV to the middle section of income e...

Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium
The Women’s Cup will be played at the Current Stadium this summer. Exciting seeing these announcements continue Kansas City’s CPKC Stadium and Louisville’s Lynn Family Stadium will serve as cohosts for this year’s events, which will feature two four-team tournaments this summer. The full TWC USA fi...

Snooze perhaps? That seems apt for the marketKCPowercat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 10:06 am Is this where we can add in ideas to fill up P&L? I think a fun brunch / lunch focus place would work well for residents and tourists alike. Not like a big biscuit which is more family focused, more boozy brunch forward.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Picked someone up yesterday evening. Sign said terminal parking limited and to use economy. Which got me thinking when are they going to get real time availability going for surface lot? Annoying Arrivals parking control were out in force keeping the curb lane clear. I assume given spring break tim...

It would be great if this area focused on residential of various types and some office development. This is the perfect area to skip the retail. We have plenty of retail downtown and plenty of retail capacity. We can’t keep making several small, self serving pockets that discourage residents from g...

Re: OFFICIAL - East Village
East Village doesn't need to be loaded with retail and restaurant space, but a handful of small corner spaces for neighborhood amenities (neighborhood bar, a small bank, bakery, clothing store, neighborhood market, etc) would be ideal. Where is the nearest Dry cleaners? Considering the proximity to...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
NY Jets and NY Giants play in New Jersey so the team(s) could still be called by Kansas City. The two newest MLB stadiums are located away from the central city in areas considered suburban and were built as suburban development plans. So being downtown isn't really considered necessary for the fin...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!
Can we rename the thread yet? There's a Big 12 Tournament thread (not all that far back) and I should have put my post there. If there's a moderator around that wants to move my initial and ensuing posts there, that would be OK. Nah it’s not even about your post, I’m just annoyed constantly reading...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront
This project's struggle more closely emulates other US streetcar projects (precarious funding and financing), but glad it's finally happening. It will complement the Main Street Extension nicely. Hopefully PortKC can live up to its obligations since this small segment is not inside the TDD. It shou...

Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence is a primary supplier of small arms ammunition to the US military as well as a huge supplier to the civilian market. I'm sure a lot of Lake City ammo ends up exported to allied militaries around the world. Can confirm. The Greek military provided ammo for ...
