Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
"We can't afford to plow the streets when it snows, fix potholes, or solve crimes, but dammit we need to build stadiums because if we don't, the rich people will take their literal and metaphorical balls and go somewhere else!" I can't believe this isn't being met with a collective, "...

Re: North Plaza Hotel- 46th and Broadway
The fire hydrant in the middle of the sidewalk, the shitty vegetation, or the old crumbling sidewalk next to it? Yes The hydrant. You wouldn't put a hydrant in the middle of the street. The vegetation island is RIGHT THERE, just extend it over. Old sidewalk can be fixed, landscaping can too. That h...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
This mess is all on Frank White. Chiefs will remain at Arrowhead. Royals will end up downtown, Clay County can't get the vote and NKC can't afford them alone. Even if the county fails us like the fools they are, we have the city of Kansas City and the big dogs, the state of Missouri. Ok, going away...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I doubt there’s much weight there, but pretending that a Kansas option hasn’t been at least casually explored is also not realistic. I doubt they’re heavily pursuing it, but I don’t doubt it’s being weighed as an eventual option. You need to be more realistic. I think there is a very good chance th...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
Even with the price increase I’d still say it’s worth it, especially the full double trackage. Building any element at a value scale but only building it for partial functionality is shooting yourself in the foot.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Modern luxury design is still an order of magnitude more affordable va modern ornate construction. Not to mention MOST of the plaza area residential towers are nothing to write hike about. Depending on the type of detailing included, the increase in price is negligible to the projects overall costs...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
If there's no concerted effort pushing for premium design and maximize broad use of such a prime site, a standard issue lego block residential building may end up here as a private island. Modern luxury design is still an order of magnitude more affordable va modern ornate construction. Not to ment...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Buddy it's been a few months since there supposed announcement that still hasn't been made and a year into this thing with new sites getting thrown out there. The EV plan has failed and a vote will fail. You need to come back to reality Guy, a finalized plan hasn’t even been presented to the public...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
This is the main reason Cordish got involved. They have a history of working with this city to get things done. They got involved with the convention hotel too behind the scenes when things were looking a mess. The were involved with the cap. Now they’re trying to help the royals accomplish downtow...

Re: Reddit
RIP Twitter. X is such a stupid name, I think it should be rebranded MuskSpace. Urbanist twitter is still heavily trafficked, and hasn’t lost many important characters. The only one with any heavy following was NJB, but his “give up on NA” tirade a while back has all but lost his following in the U...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
…The projected revenue way back in the day for PNL likely assumed the arena would have a sports anchored tenant. It also assumed Cordish would’ve made a fucking effort in the last two decades to lease out some of their retail bays, Instead of 1/4-1/2 of it sitting empty any given point in time… but...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I’m confused as to why people are saying the Royals leadership are wanting to build a P&L 2.0 on EV to begin with? They were fairly clear that their intention was to flesh out a neighborhood, with a fair amount of mixed uses, office, hospitality, residential, and commercial. From everything I’ve...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Agree 100%. NFL needs to stay where it is and I don't see the Chiefs even wanting to move downtown. Does this mean there is a chance that Sporting KC is looking at the site??? I doubt it. That would be the best candidate for the NKC site IMO. I don’t see though why people think a SKC stadium would ...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
Schipol is just a super weird airport too. People just wondering around waiting to figure out where to go say every step. It's not bad, but I don't love the design. Yeah, design and layout is lackluster, but they have great amenities, and their runway and gate capacity gives reason to hope the an M...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
If the Royals do take the Crossroads site then there should be a full on pressure campaign *immediately* to put Sporting KC or the Chiefs in the East Village spot. Please god don’t plop an NFL stadium anywhere within the downtown area. Talk about an energy suck Agree 100%. NFL needs to stay where i...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
something like a museum could be awesome in terms of diversifying who's here, when, and why and creating a stronger customer base for surrounding businesses. I’ve been arguing that at some point Union Station is going to have to give Science City an eviction notice to actually flesh out train platf...
