According to ABC News: Hospitalizations have spiked in seven states including Texas, Arizona, Florida. There has been an uptick in 18-35 age group in states that have reopened. The FDA has revoked emergency authorization for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, and says it is not an effective treatm...

Re: Memorializing Racists

I find it incredible that we have military bases named after Confederate military leaders in the United States. What's more amazing is that some of these military bases are named after rather mediocre military leaders (e.g., Braxton Bragg and George Pickett), and in one case, probably the most inep...

The new office building next to Park University would fit perfectly in downtown.

Parking on the back, clear facade along the sidewalk with good pedestrian access
Anyone have any pictures of it?

Re: COVID19

Evidence there were cases in Wuhan as early as October, 2019 indicting an outbreak. I don’t doubt it at all. The Chinese Communist Party has strong evidence against them that they intentionally covered up the initial outbreak and didn’t do anything to mitigate the spread, both within their borders,...

Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?

As long as development continues down here, there is going to be some viability in the future to a 12th street Street Car line. In the meantime, KCATA proposes 15m frequency on 12th Street through the bottoms connecting our two downtowns -- KCMO + KCK. https://ridekc.org/planning/ridekc-next I’m de...

Small "bluff" has been constructed with 3 statues atop. Still trying to raise funds to have it all completed for the bicentennial next year.
How much would still need to be raised to complete the project?

Nice renderings, from the looks of it the ground floor will be fairly lively, I imagine if there’s any restaurants there they’d be packed when the Kauffman has performances

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

For some reason some buildings on Broadway think they will be targeted for looting - The Peanut, Quality Hill leasing office, and another apt. building on Broadway are completely boarded up on the ground floor. Interesting considering the only downtown protest is at City Hall and no one else closer...

It's possible, although I think Trumpism is here to stay. I'm afraid you can't put that hateful, disgusting toothpaste back in the tube. Pretty sure the blind partisan political alliances a large amount of Americans are falling into is going to prevent more than any one side of the political spectr...

Re: Capriotti's 3 unit deal

Jersey Mikes seems to be the favorite of franchise chain subs on E Coast, though it's still closer to other franchise mainstream watered down subs than traditional counter deli subs. Using iceberg lettuce is an indication that they probably don't use a decent quality meat - typical of franchise cha...

Former Subway/Sports Clips/Sugar Rush Blackbob Marketplace.
Personally think it’ll be a better use of the space, that sports clips was one of the worst in town, staff was rude and waiting time was outrageous. Do we have a date on when they’re expecting to open?

Nothing would have happened if the cops hadn’t been antagonizing the protesters all night. They blocked us from marching by the federal reserve and almost immediately tear gassed us, this kept happening. No one that I saw in the protest was doing anything that deserved that kind of a response. Whil...

I would really love to see a small grocery go in this neighborhood, I know it’s Westside south but it’s really it’s own neighborhood. It would be nice if it could be self contained
If any commercial space pops up be sure to post it!

Re: Real Estate Listings of Interest (Metrowide)

There was a proposal to convert that building to apartments. It seems like it was pretty far along in the process and moving forward (I forget what tax incentives or zoning changes they needed, but I believe they received them). It looks like they even started some work on the building. I currently...

Building at 2645 Madison Ave. listed for 1.6 mil.

Anyone have any idea what this building was at one point? Looks somewhat like an older auto dealership with the style of building. I imagine that price won’t hold Super strong with the current economic climate.
