Why not a massive Amazon warehouse - those seem to be all the rage these days.

Re: Ranchmart South Apts/Condos

Just a note, the rezoning piece (REZ2020-0000) is before the Planning Commission on Monday 14 Sep 2020 at 1.30pm. The location is the OP Convention Center, Ballroom A (rather than the usual city hall).

Re: Quiktrip

I did have a chance to ask a couple of the workers at the 87th & Farley location recently, they were not even aware of the new location being proposed.

Ranchmart South Apts/Condos

Behind the shops of Ranchmart South there is an existing mostly underground parking garage. The street behind that is duplexes. There is a proposal to remove all that (but not touch the businesses) and create a new apartment/condo building with underground parking. Target audience is 60+ but will no...

Perhaps. If life ever gets back to normal I'll ask the guys behind the counter - normally I drop by there a few times a week, late at night.

Re: Quiktrip

I'm still a bit surprized that QT would consider it after the recent remodel down the street (87th & Farley).

That being said, it is a perfect location for such a thing.

Re: Former Perkins on 87th St, Lenexa

There is a sign up today that indicates a gas station with grocery store. Seems too close to the fairly newly remodeled QT farther east on 87th.

Re: Oak Park Mall Update

Despite living about 2 miles away, I've only been in Oak Park Mall a handful of times in the last 10 years.

There is just nothing about a mall that appeals to me.

I was rather impressed that Oak Park Mall is getting (temporarily) the Chiefs selfie-sign from Union Station - good move.

Re: KC's Big 5 needs for 2020s

I'll admit I'm having a hard time finding a source that is not behind a pay-wall on the outside of the city bus stuff. But even in the ordinance itself it explicitly says "...to make fixed route public transportation fare free within the City." I know it was discussed at least on Ruckus and on KC We...

Former Perkins on 87th St, Lenexa

Located between I-35 and I-69. Seems like a high visibility location, has a stop light to help access - will be interesting to see what takes over that space. (They were just taking down the old signage a few days ago.) One possible downside in the short term, I think some road construction is plann...

Re: KC's Big 5 needs for 2020s

Why do you think someone will suddenly need a fare when leaving KCMO? No one has announced this. All we have so far is a passed resolution to figure out how to fund free bus service. That's it. The Austin trial lasted ~3 months. It apparently increased ridership by 75% (nearly a doubling) but incre...

Re: KC's Big 5 needs for 2020s

Fare Free Transit: I'm curious why folks think this is a good thing. First issue is that it is NOT system wide - only KCMO. So any bus that crosses to the other state, suddenly need a fare. I'm sure that will lead to a good bit of confusion when some buses picking up in downtown KCMO will require a ...

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

Two bits of news on the Google Fiber front. They are now offering phone service for $10/month - apparently for all areas currently served. They have also split up the remaining portions of Johnson County into: East John County (signups in April 2016); North Overland Park; Central Overland Park; West...
