Re: Overseas Travel
Love S.E. Asia - some of the friendliest people I've met and great food. Depends on how much time you have in Malaysia - I spent a month there some years ago and enjoyed Penang, Cameron Highlands where the Brits used to go in the Summer to escape the heat. If you're only going South from KL I'd defi...

Re: Majestic
Went for dinner 2 weeks ago downstairs. Had a jazz trio and atmosphere good. Overall good time. Steak great and good wine choice- just a few start up niggles that should go soon and a strange appetizer with fried risotto (didn't like). Will be going back soon if that's an indicator.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
A butcher/fishmonger would be great, especially if they could source local meats and quality seafood products. Agree on the bakery - artisan type with 'crusty' french bread etc. mini market with beer/wines etc ...and something else on the corner of Walnut and 5th - a Greek restaurant would be good. ...

RM closures continue - the Wine Cellar announced they are not renewing their lease. That will leave the North side of the market seriously empty once they and Succotash have gone.

If you are within the loan limit you may qualify for an FHA loan which requires only 3% down.

Re: Indian Restaurants
I usually only make it about once a year because the chili/onion/curry smell permeates the loft for a month+. I agree with smell issue - now always do the cooking on the bbq outside on the deck. You can get some decent curry pastes (Patak's etc) in KC - otherwise get the spices but make su...

Re: Indian Restaurants
I'm more into SE Asian than Indian (prefer heat of capsicum acid in chilies to heavy spices) but I've had Indian many places in London (Indian was the only edible food in London to me - I actually threw up on pub food) and don't notice much fundamental difference to American-style Indian, just mayb...

Re: Indian Restaurants
After eating at lots of UK curry houses for over 20 years (Highlander you need to try the Balti house's in Birmingham) I've found nothing in KC that compares. The taste is lacking, spices too mild - didn't like Korma Sutra in Westport at all - haven't tried the Metcalf one yet - Swagat in ZR is a li...

If you're disappointed in New Orleans, then you're not going to the right places! You need to go to Jacques Imo's jacquesimoscafe.com Great Southern cooking - limited reservations unless it's a really large party but no problem - put your name on the list when you arrive and go next door to the ba...

Anyone else been to Bice recently?
Went Friday night and it was absolute crap! Service sucked, food awful and wine way overpriced. Will not be going there again - what is it with KC Italian restaurants - has anyone else been to Italy and eaten the real deal? No comparison - it's all stodge here.
