Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Looks like for the most part KC avoids this problem relying on fares. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/can-public-transportation-survive-pandemic-experts-warn-death-spiral-n1252214?cid=eml_nbn_20201227 "The Covid-19 pandemic has hit some public transit systems hard. Re: KC in TV and Movies

We seem to agree that their goal is, actually, just to make money. As a former flipper that is the honest to God truth. One of the problems faced is how much money a flipper can make given the price of the house to buy and the comps in the neighborhood. Of course my flipping was before the collapse...

Re: KC metro gaining as a major distribution hub

If anyone has been traveling down I-49/71 Highway through Belton and Raymore you will find big warehouse/light industrial buildings being built on the east side of the highway. One in Belton (on an old golf course) is finished and occupied, another almost finished and putting up walls on a third. In...

Re: Downtown office vacancy

My daughter's downtown employer is giving up about 25% to 33% of their lease space. Her and others in her unit have worked from home since March and that will likely continue for some time. Before Covid there was talk some of her fellow employees and her unit would be moving to Lees' Summit. She was...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

I don't think I've seen an episode of that show since the first season. I hope it has gotten better, but I thought the b-roll footage was pretty bad. They had one shot of the Plaza or the DT skyline interspersed with some random rural or small town shots that weren't even from the KC area (I rememb...

Re: The KCMO School District

I would suggest most of the disparity has nothing to do with what is spent in the classroom and more to do with what is happening at home for many of these students. The schools probably attempt to make up for some of the disadvantages of their students, but it's a hard battle when there are so man...

Re: COVID19

It is rather amazing that NY and NJ have nearly 1/3 of US deaths from CV19 (47,000 out of 155,000) but they are only currently contributing about 3% of US deaths. Herd immunity? New York has had confirmed 442,000 cases of CV19. That's only a 2.3% of the population that are known to have the disease...

Of course not in your area but curbside takeout is working quite well at Raymore's Missouri Mud and LS Jackstack.

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

It's a great place. The former American Royal complex is a convention center. It's Kemper, Hale Arena + Governors Building There's also a large parking area for bringing in equipment and has multiple loading docks. Remember it is not Kemper anymore, it has been changed quite a bit. Also it is now p...

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

Bad place for it. Other cities are using their convention centers. Convention Centers have a few advantages over other buildings. Nearby utility pits for one. It is quite likely these temporary beds will need electric hookups for monitors. Pits I believe are 40 ft apart so an extension can be relati...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I don't buy this. I think the consensus is that there will be a city funded stadium that will be surrounded by surface parking with no clear future development. If someone wants to change that, I believe they know how to reach everyone. I could see this site getting between a few different sites. H...

Assuming we want to, what ideas would we pursue? Our potential is vast and impressive. Bear in mind that...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

To move 10,000 people in 60 minutes takes 20 trains departing every 60 seconds. The existing stadiums and parking takes up 220 acres The entire area between HyVee Arena and 670 (excluding the train tracks) is 110 acres. If parking isn't added we need transit of course. 150 people per train. Let's s...

"Why it's so hard to create affordable housing in economically-disadvantaged neighborhoods. Again, it's the banks." One has to remember the banks are regulated. One recent poll has a majority of the US wanting to impeach or remove Trump from office. For those of you who desire to impeach or remove Trump remember who would replace him. Mike Pence. Pence might bring some order into the White House but politically there wouldn't be much difference.

What is funny is the two current party leaders of the House, Ryan and Pelosi, are Roman Catholics. And yet many of their political views are quite opposite. With regards to the Supreme Court currently there are 5 Roman Catholics (Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Sotomayer and Kavanaugh), 3 Jews (Breyer, Gins...
