Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
They said Oak will remain open, they didn't say it will remain straight. I dropped some basic drawings in here months ago showing how a small stadium could work while adjusting Oak a bit. Very common around baseball stadiums. Hard to imagine how they'll fit a stadium strictly between Oak and Grand....

Then it would make no sense to make this change if nobody cares.Metro wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 1:50 pmIt's panderinfg because they are behind. The average voter isn't going to care about keeping Oak open.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 1:35 pm fair enough. Bad phrasing.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
So the "other" stuff is still coming just updated layout sounds like. Also positive. UHaul hotel sounds great idea to me! A spokesperson for the team said the Royals will still move forward with the surrounding development but will alter the design to keep Oak Street open. He did not speci...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I will be with John Sherman later tonight and will ask for updates. I think they need to do something across Oak like hotel and retail. I suspect they will just in a scaled back capacity. The renderings we saw are complete trash now. They were pie in the sky concepts anyways which was made clear wh...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
So stadium related developments east of Oak are dead for now? Would be a mistake to still not buy up a large amount of the property over there and plan some things. There are sites for two big buildings and a series of smaller gaps for smaller buildings. I will be with John Sherman later tonight an...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The reason they eliminated Oak is because they want the buildings right up against the stadium. Especially the office and residential that will have awesome ballpark views that can help demand higher rents. Yea, I don't give a F about their theoretical higher rents. The street needs to stay open an...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
That changed my vote from "hell no" to tepid "yes." The potential news of them not touching east of Oak right now may help people too? I personally think they should do "something" east of oak and there is plenty of space to do so and not interrupt businesses there or ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
With LED lights now I'd think the unintentional light pollution is much lower and that beam could be directed only where it needs to go. You'd still see a glow of course but that's not much different than city light.
