Re: Faux Fish

Wild salmon's taste will vary and isn't as consistent, so most restaurants will use farmed.  Atlantic Salmon, which is farm raised, is available year round at a reasonable price. I would never choose Atlantic Salmon over wild King Salmon based on flavor, but wild salmon is seasonal, so sometimes yo...

Re: The Mango Room

Houlihan's stuff is all fresh ingredients....local company and definitely a step up from the typical Applebee's genre...and their happy hours are always pretty good deals and fun....I still despise CPK for moving Houlihans original location off the plaza. I've had pretty good luck with the Houlihan...

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West

Who goes to the Legends?  That is a serious question.  With new JoCo/Northland/urban core options, I just don't see why people would go out there to dine, shop and especially for entertainment. My in-laws live out that way, so we end up at the Legends from time to time. It's not my cup of tea, but ...

Re: beer.

Toured Boulevard recently, and have some good things to report.  I am probably not remembering everything. -They are making a Pilsner that I think is going to be a new year-round.  It's one of the few Pilsners I have enjoyed. -Another batch of the Bourbon Barrel Quad is currently going in their whi...

I agree that they don't really blend into the neighborhood---but I kind of like them. Of course, I'm a big fan of industrial infrastructure.

Rushed-to-judgement smoking ban?

The city dragged their feet and kissed the smoker's butts for as long as they could on this one.

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser

Maybe this has been answered before, but what happens after a recall? Who becomes the new mayor? Will s/he be any better? How disruptive will the whole process be?

I'm on the fence on this. I'm disappointed in the funk, but I'm not sure this is better.

Scribblymoth, That all sounds great. We'll try to check you out next week. You should try to find stickers or something to advertise. Before I was a father, I assumed that changing tables were universal. They are not. Not everyone is as adamant about them as I am, but I know it is an issue for a lot...

Thank you for the well wishes, and I'm really glad that your daughter enjoyed the table/books.  I think kids like to feel included in adult activities, but just need stuff in their size!  As for recycling, we wish more businesses did it too.  Maybe it will catch on. The hours are a tricky situation...

^Agreed.  I've been a Star subscriber since I moved to KC, but my subscription expires this month and I will not be renewing.  The product is a shell of it's former self, prices have gone up, and I can get all the local content online for free.  The Star has zero chance of long term success with th...

Re: Shipping Container Home in Brookside

I think this one will fit in well without being obtrusive. Going by the pictures, it looks like a decent contemporary home. Definitely looks better than the vacant lot with the crumbling sidewalk. If you think the vacant lot was bad, you should have seen the hovel hunkering down behind its fence wh...
