Re: Wonderful Waldo

I haven't been around for awhile, but felt obligated to post today. :) Has anyone been to the District yet? I'm bummed the Gaf closed, it was our local, but this place is a huge asset to the neighborhood, I'm very excited. The space has been totally redone, and looks much brighter and more open than...

Re: Wonderful Waldo

Not completely sure, I was told it was a provision the building owner puts into the lease?

Re: Wonderful Waldo

Aww, I loved Cantina. Their asada tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and margaritas were amazing. They didn't shut down, the lease was bought out......

Re: Wonderful Waldo

For anyone interested.... I was very distraught to learn our "local", Cantina del Ray had their lease bought out. Their last night was Saturday. Coming in a "Wine Dive" bar from Des Moines, I'm suspecting here, as his business partners are from KC and Waldo is a somewhat similar ...

Re: sprinkler system

I don't know if you are still thinking about this, but we used KC Irrigation Specialists. Greg was a really nice guy and made sure we were happy with the work he did at our home and his pricing seemed very fair for the work we had done compared to the one other bid we got. I'm not sure of cost, depe...

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants

Interesting choice to lookout over SW Trafficway with those huge windows. In any event I'm very happy someone is doing something with it instead of it sitting infinitely as a red eyesore that reminds me of Larry Johnson's "incident" there every time I go by!!

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants

I couldn't find this mentioned elsewhere (I'm just learning the newish search system), but has anyone noticed the Drink space is being completely redone? It looks great, just curious if anyone has heard what's going in? I look forward to whatever it might be, that space was in desperate need of a te...

Re: zocalo

My husband and I checked out Zocalo last Saturday after spending a little time at waterfire. I have to say, I was impressed. The space looks great, and the staff was very friendly and eager to please. The food struck me as a bit overpriced, but was fantastic and we both really enjoyed it. Great tequ...

Re: Trezo Vino

I'm excited to hopefully check this out with coworkers on Monday night for drinks and dinner.  I've always wanted to like this place but I have always found it is just "off", whether I've been for lunch, dinner or happy hour.  I like the space, the patio area and the location since I work ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I had lunch with a friend who is a very regular at Fridas a few weeks ago. I asked Victor about how the Plaza restaurant was coming along and his face soured, he grumbled about delays and changes in plans then walked away. So this is not at all surprising. Really disappointing.....  Hopefully they c...

Uuuhh, this is not looking good. Please tell me we are not hiring a completely inexperienced waffler, plaintiff attorney as our new mayor after what we've just endured with Funky.

It's not an argument, I'm just pointing something out.  Businesses revenues will be down.  Yes, it's temporary, but it will be a pain in the ass if this happens.

Re: Polsinelli Shughart HQ @ 47th/Broadway

My coworker, who worked downtown when they built the Commerce Bank building brought up an extremely valid point which I haven't seen presented prominently anywhere about this project.  A building of this scope is probably going to take somewhere in the range of 24 - 30 months to construct.  How many...

Re: Verizon gets the iPhone...

The wifi hooks up w/ whatever wireless connection is in range. I'm as jazzed about the Verizon iphone as anyone, and realize this made news around the country, but funny story.  Yesterday AM on my way to work, I passed the Ward Parkway Verizon store, which had opened up at 7 AM for the big launch.  ...

Re: Broke-ass KS to spend $8.7 billion for JoCo Highway Expansions

What a mess, although I generally could not care less what the state of KS is up to.  Let's seriously hope that whoever they select to do the work is not the same contractor that did the westbound portion of 435 from State Line Road to Antioch.  It is the most atrocious road I have ever driven on, i...
